We came here because of the reviews and we're not disappointed. Touring the area, stopped in for lunch. Actually, this was the destination and the way there and back we toured. A Portuguese find with a Portuguese bottled beer which was very tasty. We had the Linguica Flaming-two sausages served over a fire and littleneck clams served two ways. Both were really good and satisfying. A casual spot. Very nice

We went to Cavalerio's on a recommendation. Although we live locally, we had never been. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and the service was excellent. We ordered the sampler appetizer and a pitcher of sangria, both delicious. For dinner we ordered the Portuguese Steak served with an egg on top and house gravy and a side of Portuguese fries, Garlic Shrimp, and the unique Sole dish served with fried bananas and banana liquor. All of the meals were excellent and came with rice and mixed vegetables. Normally these would not be my favorite sides but I really enjoyed them. We finished the meal sharing a piece of chocolate cake that was very rich. I would recommend this restaurant, the menu has some unusual choices and the service could not have been better.

Several of us visited Friends for the first time recently and enjoyed the intimate atmosphere, excellent service (thank you, Jonathan) and delicious, hot, meals. I heartily recommend the Frutos Do Mar Em Cama de Pasta (Shrimps, scallops and little neck clams in a white wine, olive oil,and garlic sauce over pasta.) Another popular dish among us was the Febras de Porco Grilhadas (Grilled pork loins with fried potatoes and rice. Others raved about the Camarao a Alfonso XIII (large shrimp cooked in a sauce of mushrooms, tomatoes, garlic and heavy cream). All food arrived at the table hot and generously filled the plates. Tired of chain restaurants? Feeling overwhelmed by dining rooms and impersonal servers. Try Friends in Lowell and feel like a guest being served by a friend.
