Things to do in Litschau
The owner focuses on simple meals, being prepared from fresh fish - nothing frozen! The restaurant offers meals only through May - September, but is worth to try. Their carp chips are really excellent.

While we were touring the northern Waldviertel (Forest District) of Lower Austria, we stopped off in Heidenreichstein to view the beautiful castle and have lunch in the village. We asked a few locals where they consider the best food was served close by and all directed us to the "Burgstüberl" opposite the castle. Thus, it is very well located for sightseeing. We enjoyed the 2 course daily special (Soup and Pork Chops with fries). It was very reasonably priced at ⬠6.90. It switches every day. In July and August they are open everyday, but otherwise closed on Mondays. The food is good basic "Hausmannskost" (every day home style cooking)If in town, do as the locals and eat here.
I spent holiday in hotel Nobys and had half-board in the restaurant. The morning table was the same for all five days with exceptional variations. The 3 course dinner consisted of * excellent creamy soap* gourmet-wannabe main meal without any fresh salad/vegetables/fruits - although it was summer and lot of local vegetables in the market - sometimes quite small portion* cream + ice or cake desertI mean the cook could cook, but his invention was gone and he will bore you to death if you eat there regularly. The beverages were quite expensive.
15-minute waiting time for the menu. No greeting, no offer of drinks. Guests coming later than you are served first. Making a note on such approach makes the staff aggravated. I do not recommend this place. Such behaviour of staff shall not be happening.
Restaurant Zájezek was established in 2013 and is located near the pond. In the menu you can find a great variety of dishes including vegetarian dishes. During the lunchtime (11:00-15:00) we also offer daily meals that are regularly changed. The restauran

We found this little restaurant by chance, as we were staying at the hotel Perslak, at Nový VojÃÅov 90 ( 378 33 Nová BystÅice ) Czech Republic. It is on the Austrian side, but the food should be classified as Czech, rather than Austrian, as the chef is Czech. Both he, and the waiter speak both - German & Czech. The clientele is mainly Austrian, the restaurant gets very packed by locals on Friday & Saturday nights, but you can also sit outside (less smoky) and enjoy your meal in more quiet atmosphere. Great value, great cuisine, very large portions.

We had a great filet of carp in the restaurant. It is best (as far as i´m concerned...) when you turn it in flavour, egg and bread crumbs and fry it the "viennese" style. They serve it just with a potatoe salad (but the potatoes in this region open up an own category of potatoes...)
