Wombles is a destination restaurant which comfortably caters for corporate groups whilst simultaneously accommodating intimate diners.
What a great venue, ambiance, service and food. It was winter and they had fires outside to huddle around, before going in to the restaurant - a bit like going back into the past and reminded me of visiting Zimbabwe many years ago. Definitely an African theme. Itâs expensive, but the food is exceptional and very personalized service, including the owners/managers. Definitely worth a visit - just do it!
Effusive welcome by the acting manager, Gerard, set the tone for a great experience. I love the decor, the ambience and the service. Bonus- the food was delicious.

Firstly, it had such a quaint and warm ambience, perfect for a cold June morning. This was followed by excellent service and very tasty food. The croissants are a must! They were the freshly baked, melt-in-your-mouth type. Looking forward to going back soon.

Lanser's on Main serves exquisite home-styled Italian and French food with an ambience to match. Weâre open from 11:00 â 21:30 every day, except Sundays. Weâre always looking forward to welcoming you.
It all started well. The interior looked fun, quirky and arty and the chef/owner was friendly and hands-on. The starters were all delicious - our group had the fish cakes, springbok carpaccio and fried haloumi. For mains the T-bone was beautifully done and the pesto pasta good. My porcini risotto, however, was far too rich and porridgy and the pork belly was miles too sweet. I want to recommend to the owner that he adds a few healthier alternatives to the menu. Many modern patrons will take issue with all the rich food, fried starches and highly sugared items. The service was slow and rather absent. Would I go back? Probably not. Thank you for taking the time to post your review, hannetjieeWe're so glad you enjoyed the personal and hands-on service of Lanser's on Main. Our goal is that all of our guests enjoy a relaxed evening with tasty classic Bistro food. For us it's always about the full experience. We're sorry that didn't translate all the way through for you. Thank you for your feedback on food. It's always important to hear from our guests. I am sorry we didn't have an opportunity to chat about your thoughts on the evening. I love chatting with guests about their meals, especially if there's something that doesn't agree with their expectation.Friday evening was a difficult night with a Tenant Opening Party that was going on in the parking lot (we had nothing to do with that). It was noisy and we did have to put out a few fires with regular guests frustrated on the night with the lack of parking. If our attention was lacking, I do apologise.--Lanser

Punchinelloâs Restaurant offers Venetian cuisine and a variety of wonderful dishes using the flavours of the Mediterranean as the inspiration with an emphasis on freshness of ingredients and simplicity in the recipe preparation and presentation.
I had a 10:00 meeting in Fourways and wanted to kill some time, so I had breakfast at Punchinelloâs, while dealing with emails. They make a good coffee, and the breakfast offering is a wide range, as youâd expect from a hotel. The price of R180 is very competitive. This a good way to start a day.

Casa Bella in Montecasino is an authentic Italian restaurant that serves Woodfired Pizza, Pasta, and Grills with the best, fresh homemade ingredients.
We went to a show on Saturday and wanted a meal in Monte Casino after checking out TripAdvisor who rated at 4.5 stars. Menu choice was disappointing, limited selection to choose from especially the pasta / pizza options. One of our group ordered Calamari but they could offer rice as a starch, only fries or mash potatoes. I requested an alcohol free beer they had no stock. Ordered water instead and the waitron brought a 750ml bottle for a single person. Service was slow and we had to ask for the bill to get to our show in time. Would I recommend this to other diners, unlikely ! The only attraction for a quick fast food type meal is the location. If you enjoy good Italian food look elsewhere Dear Gautenger65,We are sorry to hear that your experience fell short of your expectations and our usual standards. We would love to have the opportunity to solve this with you directly. Please, could you send through a copy of this review and your contact details to our customer care department at [email protected] who will be in touch with you.We look forward to hearing from you.Sincerely,Casa Bella

Always a treat. Arguably Joburg's finest Italian-inspired eatery, serving classic Italian dishes, some with a local flair, and a few other international fine-dining offerings. The risotto is an absolute triumph, as is the gnocchi. The Porcini chicken with pea risotto as a Secondi will rival the quality of any Tuscan Michelin-star offering, and the roasted butternut ravioli with Porcini-Truffle cream and candied walnuts is perfection personified. Desserts are inspirational. The pavlova is incredibly special, as is the Salted Caramel Brûlée with popcorn Gelato. Expect fine dining, beautiful decor, prices that are slightly higher than the norm (although very reasonable if one considers the serving sizes and the quality), impeccable service and a fantastic wine list and drinks menu, with reasonably priced cocktails. This is a top-class establishment serving only the finest of Italian pastas, meats, seafood, desserts and drinks. Not only one of Joburg's finest, but one of the finest Italian eateries South Africa has to offer. Café Del Sol Classico is an institution. You will leave with a smile on your face and an even bigger smile in your belly. Hello BradWow. Thank you for an incredibly written review. This is so refreshing to read and we truly appreciate your honest feedback. You have understood exactly what we are trying to do. Culinary Table is a family run restaurant, owned and run by father-daughter team Wehrner and Daniela Gutstadt. An ever-changing menu put togehter by chef Daniela (classically trained in NYC at the International Culinary Centre) is the product of seasonal
Joined friends for lunch. Our first visit to the venue and if you didnt know it was there it could easily be missed. Entrance is through an amazing catering supply store as well as an specialty food ingredient section. The restaurant itself is big and looks out over the vegetable garden which provides a stunning location which is child friendly. Victors service was exceptional. The menu changes with what is fresh from the garden. The wine list is more than adequate. Starters are almost a meal in themselves. We had the chicken livers, a bread basket, fish cakes and a chicken soup. All were tasty and beautifully presented. Our main courses were lamb curry, venison pie, oxtail and rump steak. All were really good with the exception of the steak which although perfectly cooked had several sinews which were difficult to cut through. Portions are more than ample and there was no room for desert so we finished with coffee. Its an interesting menu offering a different approach to dishes.
