We stopped here like the idiot sheep we are because it looked nice and was packed. Erreur!! This place is to be avoided. Expensive plain tasteless food, expensively priced. As others have stated, and I have to agree, the service seemed to be robot-like, over as quickly as possible, get the punters processed, fed, and out as soon as possible, so we can get the next ones in. The French have an expression "usine a gaz" and it felt just like that. My wife's salad was expensive and bland, my pizza was average yet expensive (nearly twice what we would pay in Marseille), my son's entrecote was inedible it was so full of gristle and his chips were a sad flop.., bref. Forget the nice looks from the outside, this place will leave you dissatisfied and annoyed that you didn't check this website first...

Went here on a recent cool rainy evening with my family of five. The owners were very friendly and helpful with our poor French. Our meals were excellent, duck, fish of the day, the K'soulet. We were able to taste the wine before ordering which was helpful to us as Americans with not much wine knowledge. The atmosphere in the lock keeper's cottage was so quaint- we enjoyed our meal thoroughly. We had booked ahead and were glad we did because the tiny place filled up fast.We came back a few days later to have a drink on the terrace by the canal and were delighted to find that they had some local French beer. Highly recommended!

Remember years ago when the size of the average French meal was on the small side? This restaurant will really surprise you when you see the size of their serving! They had a great selection of meats but also of other foods, and the service was solid. TIP: As it is a small town, walk inside to the register to pay.

Backpack Café is a World Street Food restaurant. It is located in front of market center Carrefour Labège. Non stop service from 11.00 am to 22.00 pm. Burgers, World salads, sandwiches, and also dishes coming from different countries.
American review: we are experts at fast good. Finally a restaurant in Toulouse NAILS it. Great ingredients, great prices, great flavors, great service. The burger was really, really good (coming from an American). Very solid effort all around. Only dropping a star because the side items were a bit lacking and my wife's wrap was seriously questionable (kinda cold). Will be back to try again.

It is worth traveling for some distance to eat at this restaurant. We were two having 18 and 25 euro menus which both were absolutely fabulous. Quality and presentation of food is very good, all ingredients taste fresh. Coffee is excellent. When you come out, you feel your dining experience was worth every cent.

This is a tiny restaurant, away from the main road or highway Toulouse- Carcassonne. It is located near the main place of the old village of Labege, a little far from the industrial zone. The owners are a young couple who are trying to make a great cuisine with local produce and try to keep the price reasonable. The outdoor area is also very charming under a huge tree, but not usable in rainy days. The food was great, portions small French type. It is often full, so you need to call.

Really good food, original compositions, and nothing from a tin. Not much choice (2 alternatives) but never been disappointed. A bit difficult for strict veggies as are most places in the sw of France. Service is efficient and pleasant. Comfortable and well decorated interior. Only drawback: gives onto a supermarket car park... Move out folks! We'll come and eat in Toulouse for more money and you'll get your Michelin stars.

Nothing to complain about - average food, service and ambience, good wine list. we were among the fist to arrive yet I felt as if we were being rushed. Good fresh (home cooked) produce, yet very average, pity. Could have been better.

Overall we had a very good meal, we were a group of 4. We came here for a Saturday lunch and chose the 31⬠menu (the cheapest menu offered on weekends), which was delicious. The starter was a soup with an oeuf mollet inside (soft boiled egg), however the egg was hard. 3 out of 4 of the dishes on our table ended having a hard boiled egg in their soup. It's a little surprising for a restaurant of this standard, certainly that a soft boiled egg isn't something too complicated to make. The rest of the meal was perfect; the duck was cooked to perfection and the desert was delicious.Regarding the toilets I was a bit surprised to find that the toilets were mixed and had only one cubicle.Dear âaudejacquesâ,We thank you for your comment which we read very carefully. As the chef of the restaurant, I do apologize for the cooking of the soft boiled eggs. I have also informed all my kitchen staff about it, so that such an incident wonât happen again. We are nevertheless, delighted that, as you said, âthe rest of the meal was perfectâ.As for the toilets, following new regulations, we wish to favor toilets with disabled access. The size of our restaurant only allows us to offer one toilet. This is the reason why we only offer mixed toilets and one cubicle. We continue to listen to our clients comments and we look forward to welcoming youagain in our restaurant. With our best regards.Claudie & Thierry MervilleLa Table des Merville at Castanet Tolosan
