Reviews on European food in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. KwaZulu-Natal (/kwɑːˌzuːluː nəˈtɑːl/; also referred to as KZN and known as "the garden province") is a province of South Africa that was created in 1994 when the Zulu bantustan of KwaZulu ("Place of the Zulu" in Zulu) and Natal Province were merged. It is located in the southeast of the country, enjoying a long shoreline beside the Indian Ocean and sharing borders with three other provinces and the countries of Mozambique, Swaziland and Lesotho. Its capital is Pietermaritzburg and its largest city is Durban. It is the 2nd most populous province in South Africa, with slightly fewer residents than Gauteng.

We are an upmarket eatery, professional service in a fine dining setting
Maybe Tim should think about moving to the new "Circle" centre when it opens! I am sure that some people are put off by Invesco Centre. We had another great meal there. The starter pork belly is just a perfect sized meal if you add a delish portion of veg to it. I always feel happy after spending time there. Also love the comp garlic foccacia - thanks!

We are in the Lifestyle strip mall, which is visible from the main road and identified by a large tall white sail above the superstar. Entering the open parking area, drive all the way to the end of the road and you will see us on your right hand side nex
Great service, cappuccino was good and our breakfast was yummy. If I had space left in my stomach I definitely would have tried some of the cakes and pastries on offer. Will just have to go back

Upmarket venue for that special dinner, tasteful decor with well trained waitrons. Suggest that reservation is made as I have been there on week nights and always well supported.
Lovely ambiance, sitting upstairs on the balcony on a balmy spring evening. We had fantastic salads to start, and my wife's main course of seared tuna was delicious. Unfortunately my 400g rump was most disappointing. It was as if it had been cooked on a coldish grill. It was a bit grey and tough, not the seared outside and pink and juicy inside one expects. I ordered a pepper sauce which helped somewhat. This was a pity because overall the evening was great !

Fiamma Grill specialises in quality grade cuts of matured meat and carefully selected seafood dishes. We are an Italian Grill House catering for families, functions, and romantic occasions. Our menu ranges from pizza & pasta to delicious seafood grillâs a
We went to Fiamma grill for an early dinner on Sunday with my family and we had an almost perfect evening the waiter was the best until something happened which left us bitterly disappointed there was a gentleman who was wearing a black jacket shouting at the staff about something with little regard that we were there. The staff looked very scared of him. He is arrogant, bossy and lack of leaderships qualities for a family Friendly rastoraunt like Fiamma grill. On consultation we were told that he is one of the managers. We quickly paid our bill and left.Dear CarolThank you for your patronage and time taken in reviewing our store. I have discussed in detail your review with my team and management about your recent situation, which I am humbly apologetic about. We have to be careful when responding to reviews of this nature due to the seriousness of the situation. We are a family business and lead with a motivational managment style, we are a team and work together on achieving success. You and I both know that at times, raising ones voice and seeking justifiable answers is necessary, thus I am sorry that you had to be in the presence of that experience. Aryn, the manager on duty understands his actions and is working very hard on maintaining control and humility in his approach. This being said, we would appeal to you to reconsider about the nature and star rating of our store as it truly negatively impacts our business in a large way. Thus even the servers and kitchen staff feel the ramifications of a 1 star review, as we are a small town with a lot of competition. I hope you can find it in your heart to understand and accept our apologies, as we all need a chance in life.Fabien Durocher-Yvon Owner - Fiamma Grill

Olive and Oil is my go-to restaurant for special occasions. I went for my birthday with family. We had 7 different mains, and they were all excellent. We all tasted each otherâs, and it was a challenge to decide the winner. For me the stand out was the prawn pasta with gamberi sauce. The 4 children also had different dishes, and were licking there plates. Service as always was fantastic

About to go off trekking so a throughly slap up meal was required and we found it here.First surprise was the in-depth description of the menu given by Erin, our waiter, he really knew his stuff.Second surprise was just how good the food was, best we have had outside Capetown. If I am being picky I would probably have less intensely flavoured accompaniments with the very fine cob fillet but that is a question of personal taste.Ambitious, imaginative cooking in a laid back atmosphere.

Grill Room at the Oyster Box Hotel.
Thereâs an old fashioned elegance to the Grill Room â the chandelier, the starched linen, the waiters dressed in their very retro uniforms. Even the menu includes what you wished were more universal timeless classics. One was something definitely out of fashion in the UK â an hors dâoeuvres trolley. We couldnât recall seeing one in the last 40 years â it was a meal with my father (and he died in 1975). We did remember how good they were. And this was an absolute cracker. There must have been at least 20 different salads, meats and seafood to choose from. Another retro things was the sorbet that arrived next â lychee and pineapple, although both flavours were very muted. We followed that with another classic â chateaubriand â one of the items on the âGueridon trolley serviceâ section of the menu. Itâs an enormous piece of meat, accurately cooked as requested and carved and plated at the table. Thereâs a bit of showmanship, with brandy being poured over and flamed before carving. And thereâs an array of vegetables to go with it â asparagus, courgette, carrot, cauliflower, broccoli and baby sweetcorn. And a very well made potato dauphinoise. And some pan juices to drizzle over and an excellent béarnaise sauce. This had been a lot of food and only one of us felt they had room for dessert. The menu described it as âcaramel apple sphereâ. This was disappointing, with no real flavour of caramel and precious little of apple. Nor was it a sphere, unless they meant the blob of ice cream. This could have been good if only there had been a good twang from apple and richness from caramel but this just tasted of a generic sweetness. It all made me later wonder if Iâd actually been served the dessert Iâd ordered.Service was generally good but there was a quibble. The Grill Room is one of the places where, if you order a bottle of water, they donât leave it on the table. Now, thatâs OK if the waiters are âon the ballâ and top up your glass regularly. That didnât happen here and we had to keep asking for the bottle. And the second bottle we ordered, while still eating the main course, didnât arrive until after weâd finished eating dessert.

I've written a few reviews about this restaurant as we always eat here while we spend some time on the coast during winter. As always we were welcomed by Julian and he remembered my name from last year. Well done!!We had fresh Kingklip and it was delicious. The dessert were nice and sweet as always. One of the things that I realized over the years eating here is to eat the proposed meal as Julian puts in a lot of effort to bring something special to the table. We love this place. Wish it was in Gauteng that could eat here more often.
