The Höhlmühle is located nicely in the woods, kind of hidden near Habach. The place is usually well visited. The ambiance is typical Bavarian country house style. About the menu I can say it is very much meat-oriented and many dishes come with heavy sauces, with lots of cream. I personally didn´t like that so much because I´m on a low-cholesterol diet, which is normally not a big problem in most of the places. The prices very absolutely ok, you can get a main course for € 10-15. We had 3 venison dishes: meatloaf, rabbit and deer calf. All 3 dishes came with red cabbage, which was ok except I had the impression it had lots of sugar in it. All 3 plates contained vast qunatities of cranberryjam. The rabbit was dry and tasteless and it seemed to have the same mushroom cream sauce like the deer with it. The meatloaf and the Bavarian dumpling were pretty solid (which they are not supposed to be), kind of like bricks. All in all the dishes appeared to be prepared in a loveless way and we got the impression that missing taste had been balanced with sugar. I would like to add that I´m normally eating fresh organic food. I disclaim sugar, too much animal fat and wheat. I do make exceptions when I go out for dinner but then I want them to be worth it. The food in the Höhlmühle wasn’t.

Since I live in the area, I have been here multiple times, and unfortunately cannot write a positive review for the restaurant. The atmosphere is good and they have a beer garden for when the weather is nice, but the food is really terrible. I would not recommend eating here, only a beverage is worth getting. The service personnel is not friendly either. The menu is too large for the food to be fresh. Every time we have tried this restaurant, the meat is over cooked and on one occasion the meat tasted as if it had gone bad. I mentioned this to the staff and he went an asked another man if his meal tasted good since we ordered the same dish. He did not offer to bring something else, or to take it off our bill. He was quite rude. There are better traditional restaurants in the region...it just takes a bit of searching.

Beer is excellent, food is OK, atmosphere can be great, depending on how many tour buses are there, dito with the service. If you go there on a sunny Sunday you could wait forever to be served; it's not bad service they are jjust overwhelmed with all the buses or weddings going on. Popular place best to be enjoyed on a quiet weekday for lunch.

Soft greasy pizza's and rather basic Bavarian dishes. Service was amusing to say the least. One exception: the Pfifferlings Nudeln were really good!

Our friends that we were visiting in nearby Penzberg took us to this place. It's a warm, welcoming, loud, friendly Greek restaurant with fantastic food served in large portions. Ilias, the proprietor, knows what he's doing. I didn't expect to find Greek food this good in the middle of the Bavarian countryside!

This was a wonderful restaurant to start our first trip to Germany. It had delicious food, good service and a patient waitress who helped with language problems. Only now after a week in Germany can I compare this place to others. (A restaurant in Kochel is going to get a poor review in just a few minutes ...). We had a nice waitress who provided an English menu and then explained things on the menu. Our food came out quickly. The salad was large with a wonderful assortment of items. The sausages and potatoes came out hot and delicious. We also had a dessert - a cream puff with strawberries and cream - yum!! They took our credit card without any problem. We wished we had eaten there the second night instead of the Heimatbuhne in Kochel.

We hiked the ridge line from Lenggries, hitting all of the major peaks between the town and Tutzinger Hutte; arriving here was very pleasant after that experience. The food here is tasty, the beds are not so expensive, and they have a nice selection of beer. There is also a room to hang your gear after washing it or just to let the sweat dry out. Also, if you are a member of the German Alpine Association the beds are half the cost.I definitely recommend spending a night here during your hiking!

The Trend in museums is to have high end restaurants, and the Franz Marc's restaurant is a fantastic example of it working well. The staff has limited english, and were not able to offer much help with the menu. We ordered based on a few words we recognized. The food was consistently delicious and well prepared. This was all enhanced by by a spectacular view across the lawn of the museum to the valley (& maybe the lake, I cannot quite recall).Definitely worth planning your museum visit around a meal!

I go regularly to this restaurant with customers. The family leading the restaurant is from the Calabrian region in Italy, at least the mother. She is proud of the calabrese pizza which is her specialty. The family is very friendly. The inside decoration is fine. Please ask for special knifes if you eat a pizza. Last time they did not come automatically. Sometimes the restaurant is full. Booking in advance recommended.
