Visited yesterday for lunch with a friend. The drive up to The Grove was magnificent despite the rain. Wonderful views across the countryside. We were welcomed into The Stables and quickly taken to our table. Friendly and professional staff. Drinks and menus were brought and we made our choices. The food was beautifully presented and delicious. We also chose desserts which were also mouth watering. The coffee was perfect and we thoroughly enjoyed our first experience of The Stables at the Grove. Thank you Caroline for looking after us. Would love to visit again.

Ristorante Alberto

Independent Italian Restaurant. Real Italian food prepared fresh on the premises (including dessert) by our Sicilian chef and his team. We specialise in meat, fish, game, pasta, vegetarian and vegan. We have an excellent selection of premium Italian wine.

A group of 17 of us ranging in age from 14 to mid 70s had a wonderful meal for a special birthday at Alberto’s on February 9th. We had two vegans, vegetarians and meat (and escargot) eaters in our group and we all loved our food. We had starters and main courses and Alberto brought out a birthday cake supplied by one of the party before we chose desserts so that was our dessert. A lovely evening, thank you Alberto and all concerned.

Unsure what to expect with an “all you can eat” tag, but was blown away. Such a variety of incredible food and staff who were attentive but not pretentious. Not cheap at circa £100/head but I would return on a treat day. Favourite dish was the Venison steak on the red meat corner where a very friendly young chef called Zeek, talked me in to trying the fouie gras.....and it was exquisite. Shan’t go on to list all the food I tried, but I did get to the point of just having to stop.

There was no special occasion or reason for a visit other than wanting to have a good meal. That was exactly what I got, but this time I did challenge Allan to make that pudding he had promised - a thick chocolate ganache without alcohol. More of that in a second. So they apparently keep to the same menu to avoid disappointment to people who have heard that x or y is good and then find it is not on the menu anymore. Well they mentioned a couple of specials and one was the chilli squid dish I had last time - so that was an easy choice for me and it was a) absolutely gorgeous and b) I still don't like the Iranian inspired mayonnaise it comes with as a side accompaniment - at least I am consistent! My wife went for the prawns and melon which she was very pleased with (even more when we were given some to take away at the end of the meal).I had a hard time choosing a main, but after checking the beef lasagne didn't have pork, that is what I decided to have. Nice indeed with a great salad and dressing, but almost too much as I had the anticipation for the pudding and wanted to leave room. I had worried that having lasagne was a bit of a dull choice but the layering of the sheets and ingredients was perfectly level and flat and the pasta sheets had this ort of fluffiness to them that made it different to just being homemade. My wife went for the crab linguini which she raved about while eating, and then raved about all the way home. And so to pudding, where we were taken to the small kitchen and shown the chocolate pudding and given the choice of a red berry compote or sliced oranges. I went for the orange and by heaven, the chocolate was to die for - smooth, thick, and SO much chocolate. The orange cut through it and contrasted really nicely. It was no wonder I bought all the rest of the pudding - after all he had made it just for me (I will let my wife have some, but the rest is mine, all mine). So yet another winning evening of (literally) personal service from a talented chef without the trouble of having to go to London. This really is a place that astonishes the palate and is very recommended by me - just don't be booking when I want to go because it sometimes takes a bit of patience to actually get in.(It is a BYOB for those of you that drink alcohol)

Our meal was plated well enough but the tartar sauce with the over battered fish had that crust that indicated it was prepared some time ago.The overpriced ice cream had shards of sharp ice and indicated poor preparation. One expects knowledgeable staff at these prices to be able to describe the courses but this was not the case. Once upon a time you could rely on a decent pint at the Brickies. Our beers, disappointedly, lacked that freshness and sparkle. Missed the warmth and atmosphere that once was evident when this establishment was frequented by game keepers and locals. Ce la vie.

We are from Watford and we were looking for somewhere different to eat so we headed here. We got a table for 17:30 for a family of 4, and had the restaurant to ourselves which was lovely. ESP when you are trying somewhere new with kids, you never know how they are going to be so it’s a relief when we are the only people. The service was amazing and very friendly, they interacted well with my daughter which we don’t usually get when eating out. I can imagine that the place is buzzing of an evening and we will be back to enjoy it fully! But defo a place to return!!Food was lovely! I tried every dish at our table and every dish was different, some places you go, all the sauces are the same base so the food is samey but not here! Each of our 4 dishes where different in flavour.Perhaps up-sell some garlic bread as we forgot to order but would have with a prompt. Fantastic bite to eat! And we will be back!!!

I really like this restaurant. I have eaten several times and never been disappointed. The food decor and setting is very good but this week the experience was spoilt by the Musak being played that was out of keeping with the ambience of the restaurant. It was dreary mechanical sounds. We complained to the waitress but nothing happened. Next time i will check on their music playlist before eating there again

Another wonderful night at Prime, as always service and food on another level, we were greeted and seated by a lovely Host who immediately sent over our waitress for the eve, her name was Sorina, she took our drinks order and arrived with a lovely glass of Prosecco for us all complimentary which was so nice. We shared the starters Pate and Camembert between the 4 of us, there was plenty as accompanied by the delicious warm cheese scones which also are complimentary. I had the burger which is always so fresh served on a light Brioche Bun, my 3 family members all had steaks, a fillet, a Ribeye and a Sirloin, all were cooked to perfection, the sides were hot, we always have a great meal at Prime, this was the first time my Son had eaten here and he is a real foodie, he absolutely loved it. Staff always are so friendly and polite, Sorina was fabulous tonight. Many thanks and we will see you all again soon.

A delil/cafe/wine shop by day, we visited with friends for tapas evening. We received a warm welcome and were shown to our table very quickly. The waitress then explained how things work and got us water for the table. Loved the ordering system, so straightforward. There is a menu on the table with a list of dishes (starters and mains including vegetarian options) and she advised to tick a starter and 2-3 dishes per person. You then hand your menu to the food counter. For larger tables, they do this for you. Another waiter then took a drinks order and suggested some wine, which we tried first. The food arrived very quickly, decent portion sizes and was all delicious. We all ordered 3 dishes each and this was the right amount of food. For dessert there is a cheese board or you can select a piece of cake from the deli (lots of vegan options) together with coffee or tea. A very pleasant evening. The only problem we had is that our table consisted of two chairs and a church pew seat, which was really uncomfortable. The place was very busy so you would have to book a table in advance. Parking outside on the main road can be tricky. Try Langley Hill car park round the corner. Thanks very much for your very detailed review and feedback. We're really glad you enjoyed yourselves and have noted your comment about the pew... we're looking at an alternative.Hope to see you again soon. All the best, jeff
