All round a very good experience, if a tad expensive. If you like steak, this place does them very well. They have English menu's, but the German menu uses English terms for the steaks, so very easy to eat here. Staff are very nice and helped with the meal selection. Steaks were cooked as requested and just melted. Very nice. The jacket potatoes chosen were large and ample for the meal. Sauces were served separately. They have a salad bar and a range of sides. The meat is on display.

We visited this place for the first time even visiting Kevelaer many times. The interior is classic and gives you good filling and view. The place is very clean and the staff is very friendly. We ordered Rumpsteak Krauterbuter and Heringstipp. Both were delicious. Steak was made out of fresh meat and was fried just enough. We will definitely come back.

Recently we visited the Kevelaerer Kaffeehaus and ordered Schnitzel, which usually is quite good anywhere in Germany. The waitress was quite friendly and food was quickly served. However, cutting the schnitzel was hard, because the meat was tough, and tasting the meat we got a nasty surprise: clearly there was something wrong with the taste ... We did not eat the meat, then. When the waitress asked us how the food was, we told her that we did not like the taste of the meat. Her friendliness had vanished right that moment ... She went, taking the plates back to the kitchen, and then came back to tell us that all the other customers liked the meat, and that we were the only guests complaining. She was sure that we were wrong, and that we never had pork schnitzel, so we did not know what we were talking about ... She was offended by the fact that we dared to complain in her own restaurant ... Then she went again, and a moment later she came back to apologize for her emotional outburst. For that she deserves a compliment. We paid for the food, leaving her with just one remark: if you do not want to hear your guests' opninion, you should not ask for it. All this could have been a nice comedy scene .... Hopefully some things will change for the better, because the place is in a nice location, and deserves decent food. .

I have visited this restaurant twice and had a similar experience both times. The food was quite tasty and the prices were high but nothing crazy. However on both occassions we were left waiting far too long, with others who arrived later being served first. When we complained about this once the lady just shrugged her shoulders.

I really liked Elio. The staff were friendly and helpful without being too much. The ambience was nice and although the food was not cheap it was delicious. My father ordered a rack of lamb which he claims was one of the nicest meals he ever had. It did look delicious. My only complaint is that the options for vegetarians are too few. Still, a great place worth a visit.
