It was our third visit in the Old Friesenstube in the last two years and again we had an excellent dinner in the heartful atmosphere of one of the oldest restaurants in Westerland. Try the "Friesisch Fischpfanne", it's delicious! And don't miss the wine list with many of Germany's best Rieslings.

We wanted to try this new restaurant, knowing it is the same owner as "Amici" restaurant opposite, which we love ! The atmosphere is that of a grill house, simple and not posh, but pleasant. The choice of the different sorts of meat is simply fabulous ! You can choose between US beef, dried air, Angus, japanese beef...and different servings in size : Absolutely first class meat, grilled perfectly to your choice, and served with excellent side-dishes ! And the wines are great, with open ones of the highest level : I had a glass (2 dl) from a magnum of Brunello di Montalcino, 2004, a great year, which they opened for me ! A stunning wine at a more than reasonable price !The desserts were great too, with a very special way of serving the best possible Grappa ( I will let you discover...) ! We loved the place and shall be back for sure !

Following a recent recommendation, again by my hotel, I went to this place. Please nite that parking is limited. While waiting staff were friendly throughout, the food was only average, at best. The restaurant offers two dinner sittings: 6 and 8 pm. For starters I had chanterelles (very bland) and rösti, which was ok. For mains I ordered trout with sage sauce, potatoes dauphoinse and a salad. If you like bland food- look no further. Unfortunately, to me it's just an average eatery. I will not be back.

I ate here while staying at the Landhouse Stricker hotel. On my last night there I intended to dine at their Michelin starred gourmet restaurant, the Bodendorf's, but I failed to make a reservation in time and they couldn't accommodate me. So I decided to eat at the Siebzehn84, the second, less glamorous, in-house restaurant, assuming the food comes from the same kitchen and that I wouldn't be too disappointed. I was at least partially right. The place is very pleasant and the service was perfect. The menu was short and promising, allowing the flexibility to order each dish in two version - small as a starter and large as a main dish. I started well, with a fish that was excellent, gently spicy and very well made. My main course was a beef fillet on a bedding of mashed potatoes and spinach. The taste was good but the beef was rather thin, slightly overdone and not of the best quality. The desert, a Poire Williams garnished ice with whipped cream, was ok but nothing special. The tab with two glasses of wine was slightly more than I was prepared for. It is not a simple thing to eat well in Germany. If I had the choice again I would probably aim higher (making reservation in time) oe lower (eating worse but paying less).

Deutsch-Italienische Küche
We went back to this very italian restaurant this year, having such good memories of our last visit when in Sylt ! And we were not deceived ! The food is simply the very best truly italian food you coud think of, not a reinterpretation of a style ! Wonderfull entrees, gorgeous main courses,...what else ? Not to talk about the tentation at its climax, the desserts...! The wine list is simply superlative, I chose a "Il Pino" from Bolgheri, a must ! And the service is fast, pleasant and very...italian ! You haven't been there yet ? Run ! ( Reservations are highly recommended...!)

A strange but cosy place. You have the impression, that you are really in the 1900. Only the cloths from the audience is defferent. The restaurant is a cosy "REEThaus"> with loads of historic items in the rooms. Food is above average and the waiters are very friendly and helpful. Just try it you won't regret.

Guess the island has not learned about service yet. After reading in a magazine that this is Sansibars sister we decided to give it a try although the menu doesn't look to spectacular. Even got a booking on a Friday night outside. Upon arrival the service greeted us in a very rude way. When we said we'd like to have a look they said we have to ask for permission. When we said we have a booking outside they said they would give us a nice table inside. So we decided to go and leave our money at Sansibar which has better service and food for the same price. While leaving the manager gave us a rude comment.
