First of all: don't forget to reserve! The place has little place inside and if it's too cold sitting outside is not an option.I felt really good dining here: the food is local and traditional (and very good!), the staff really very nice and the overall atmosphere cosy.Try the aperitifis, and the excellent wine, and keep some place for the dessert.
Quaint place to get decent chips and something to go with them, the owner is a character and the place is small and seems to be used for takeaway by some locals, there is seating of a basic nature, but to think of this place as a restaurant would be akin to regarding the large chicken or burger chains as fine dining establishments. It is a fairly simple chip shop with fabulous fries, decent other bits, substantial quantities, and a very reasonable price.Simple decent cheap people fuel.

We live locally and are so glad to have a top quality restaurant at our doorstep. True, the menu isn't long and as it changes daily according to availability, it is written on a blackboard rather than being printed. But who cares?! At lunchtime there is a 13 euro menu and in the evening (or special occasions such as Easter Monday at lunch) there is an a la carte for around 40 euros for 3 courses - not what I would call prohibitive Chataigne07!!!!!!!Today we had a delicious foie gras with a layer of apple slices whose acidity cut through the richness of the pate. This was followed by a solomillo stuffed with peppers and chevre (unique?) and a beef fillet with morilles sauce, both served with a wonderful selection of veg. A couple at a nearby table had something obviously different from us and, on enquiring, it turned out they were non meat-eaters who had phoned ahead and were treated to a delicious meal created solely for them. The couple running La Marleone clearly care for their guests and the produce that they serve to them. They do not serve a formulaic menu that never changes; rather they serve the best that they have at any one time in the best possible way and so much the better for that. We'll be back!

Just outside of the village Sanilhac, overlooking the scenery all the way till Mont Ventoux, there's this excellent, small restaurant. A surprising jewel in a - luckily- not too touristy part of the Ardèche. We had the day menu of 5 courses, all wonderfully prepared and very tasty. All home made. The service is friendly. The restaurant and the bathroom area are very clean. We enjoyed our abundant lunch very much. The only thing to remember is: come with an empty stomach!

Open every day for a 3 course lunch including wine and coffee for 12.50â¬. Entree is from a self-serve salad bar, choice of main course, and dessert. Friendly, efficient service. A great restaurant.

Don't go there on Sunday or Monday as it's closed. When you do go, ask for the pasta menu as they cook their pastas deliciously âal denteâ using the best ingredients. I recommend the penne napoletane with their prime quality mozzarella, tomatoes âconfit,â and grilled eggplant with olive oil and basil. Ask them to add anchovies since they go very well with the toppings. If you like to be adventurous, ask for âlamb tajineâ Moroccan style (they may have it available as a special), cooked with cured lemon, ginger, coriander, parsley, and topped with dry apricots.Their ice cream offerings are exotic and you can go for âcafe Liegeoisâ with vanilla ice cream, topped with coffee and whipped cream, or choose the âTropicale â with coconut, lime, and white rum.

We stayed at Hotel de L'Europe for a 5 nights. This is family owned and a traditional French hotel. Not many staff speak English so you will need your phrase book. Breakfast is traditional baguettes & fruit but they also offer cereal and yoghurts for â¬7.00. Evening meals are served on an outdoor terrace with great atmosphere. This requires booking as it is usually full due to the good pizzas. Very reasonably priced also. Rooms are clean with air conditioning. We had a beautiful view from out bedroom over the rooftops and could see the hills. It is centrally located on the edge of the village.

Having been in the village a week we almost missed this decent restaurant as the tables are in the garden at the back. The frontage belies the green oasis once you pass through the bar. We had salad and coffee with a nice bottle of wine. The atmosphere was buzzing wih familes and couples side by side. The waiting staff were attentive despite the very busy service. The meals were large and filling and included lots of interesting tastes.Well worth spending a long lazy lunch in a surprising environment.

Lovely little restaurant. We had melted goat cheese on toast, a kind of seafood stew, butternut squash curry, and some delicious desserts. The seafood stew was nice but missed a little kick. Maybe some garlic needed? But this was a minor fault. I would recommend this place simply on the basis of the amazing peach and verbena sorbet!

This place has been renovated to look like a family style restaurant, and is situated in the village of Joyeuse which has preserved its medieval look, feel, and warmth. It is also adjacent to a mini market where you can buy local products from food to handcrafted articles. Contact this restaurant and ask about their daily specials; they do offer menus that vary from time to time. Whenever we went there, they always had very good, well balanced meals with appetizers, salads, main courses, and dessert. The price is between $15-$30, depending on whether it's lunch or dinnertime, or their regular or extended menu.
