Find out what European restaurants to try in Inverness. This compact Scottish city is perfect for exploration by foot — travelers can easily find their way from the lovely River Ness to historic Inverness Castle and St. Andrews Cathedral, and beyond to the events at Eden Court and the busy Victorian Market. It’s also an ideal base for exploring the Highlands, with the mysterious Loch Ness (and famed local resident Nessie), Culloden Battlefield and the Bronze Age Clava Cairns just a quick drive away.

A Friendly Highland Welcome Awaits You at R&B's. R&B's is a Family run Restaurant & Bar in the city centre of Inverness, with a great range of dishes including Gluten free and Vegetarians options. We offer a wide range of drinks both alcholic and non-alco
For our trip to Inverness, we arrived around 2 PM, and we walked around the center of town looking for a place for lunch. It seemed that most places were very empty, which wasnât reassuring that it was a place to stop into. We passed the R&B a couple times. It was empty, except for the people working there. This was not reassuring, we stopped in anyways, as a TripAdvisor showed it as a 4+ star location. It was around 3 PM in the afternoon, not the optimum time for folks to be stopping in for lunch or even for an early dinner. We ordered a couple drinks and a couple sides / small entrées. All of our food and beverages were served very promptly, the food was very good. I do not recall exactly what I had, but recall that it was a good snack. They had a good selection of local beers, and a great choice of spirits behind on the bar. Donât be scared away be the velvet purple & blue finish on the seats, etc. it must be a night spot with a DJ, etc. Definitely worth stopping in at. Thanks, KM

We ate a lovely meal from the early evening 2 course menu. Our starters were Chicken Satay and Veg. Soup respectively and our mains were Chicken Pasta and Sea Trout with us sharing the Cheesecake for dessert, complemented with a bottle of the House White and finished off with a fine malt whisky each (Highland Park and The MacAllan). The meal was superbly cooked, the wine very mellow and the malts a great way to finish. The staff were friendly, attentive, conversational - in a word Perfect. We will come back when we are next in Inverness.

On a rainy Saturday evening, we stopped at this restaurant seduced by the interior decor seen through the large window. As we had no reservation, the manager sat us between the kitchen and the toilet despite our request for a better table. Strangely enough, many unreserved tables were available (even as we left). As the waiter was not too helpful to explain us the menu, we took the group menu at his suggestion. (we are only 2) This allows you to 9 starters (!) and 2 plates from selected items in the regular menu.As we were waiting our food and throughout our meal, we witnessed many arguments between the manager and the personnel (mostly non-Scottish women). Raising his voice, he literally called them "piece of ****" and reminded them that he was the boss and they were the employees. In Canada, this would be considered a clear case of harassment. As for the food, the starters were good, but our main plates were only average (salmon overcooked, ...) It's unfortunate, because we usually appreciate this type of cuisine (Damas in Montreal being our favorite). However, in this case, it clearly lacked refinement. As for the manager, he also lacked ...

Open since 1995, the simple cooking and warm, friendly atmosphere has allowed The Mustard Seed to become one of Invernessâs favourite restaurants. The Location on the banks of the River Ness in a converted church building is simply stunning and helps crea
We opted for a more formal/upscale dinner one evening, and we are so glad we did. This place was recommended by a local, and rightly so. The menu was interesting, with a good selection of Scottish regional and continental items, many with fresh twists and takes. Everything, from the greetings, seating, to wait staff and food quality, taste and plating, was top shelf. Prices were quite fair, given the quality, although it was a bit more than other area restaurants. In sum, delighted we dined there, recommend it highly.

We were in Inverness on a Monday night and it seemed that a lot of restaurants were closed. We crossed one of the pedestrian bridges over the river and found McBain's.What a lovely stylish place. We were early so we were able to enjoy the pre theatre menu - two courses but you can add a dessert. The food was fabulous and the staff were excellent. The menu was great value even if you miss the 'earlybird'.Suitable for couples, friends, solo but probably not for young children.'

After a long 30-hour day of travel, and evening arrival, our B&B host recommended Star Inn. Simply superb! Wife had very substantial Veggie Tart Salad. Never had something so good and unique. I had macaroni bake. Great portion size, all homemade, glorious on a cool night. Located about 7 miles from Inverness airport. Get off beaten path and try this pub/restaurant. Reasonable prices, great service and food! Located in town of Ardersier.

Since it opened in 2002, Rocpool Restaurant ha become an effervescent Inverness brasserie with a loyal fan base. A cool contemporary decor with lots of bare wood and bold colours give a buzzy vibe to the restaurant which is situated in a prime site on the
On our most recent visit to Inverness in October 2019 we were able to enjoy having dinner twice in this magnificent restaurant. The service again was superb and all the meals were just wonderful. On the two nights, a Monday and a Wednesday, the restaurant was forced to hang a sign in the door stating âwe are fullâ, primarily of local Inverness residents, and therefore could not take any more reservations. If this is not a recommendation for excellence, we canât think of a better one.
