Things to do in Imatra
The food in the restaurant was decent, but the attitude of the personnel and especially the owners was like âcould not care lessâ.The urinal in the mensroom was broken for a whole week (possibly more) and the toiket smelled like a drain. I can not believe tha there is no plumbers in Imatra. The waiters asked us to run between the restaurant and the pun for drinks while chattimg with each other. The only reason to visit the place were the terace next to the stage and good big band concerts in the pedestrian street.
Noutopöytälounaan lisäksi tarjolla ilmeisesti viikoittain vaihtuva pihvi-, kala- jne. ateria. Ainakin valitsemani viikon pihvi salaattipöydän ja jälkiruoan kera maittoi hyvin. Työmaaruokalan mukava versio.
I stayed at Valtionhotelli over a weekend and had a few meals in Linnaravintola. It is on the higher price scale compared to other restaurants in Imatra town, but the quality is also very good. Especially the Finnish speciality, Salmon Soup was great. The portions are quite big (by European standards, not American), so I found out that the smaller version of the salmon soup, and a couple of slices of bread was enough if you are not extremely hungry.

The restaurant oozes old time charm and the service is very friendly and attentive. The menu promised quite delightful and tasty meal, but unfortunately the reality turned out to be very mediocre. What a pity. My companion ordered the fried pikeperch with scallops, shrimps and greenshell mussel in bouillabaisse broth and aioli (22,00â¬). The presentation of the plate was messy, the only identifiable ingredient being the two boiled potatoes. Rest of the portion was drowned in industrial tasting and sticky sauce - an insult to any bouillabaisse and more or less hiding all the other flavors. My lamb entrecôte with dill foam, dark lemon sauce and potato gratin (20,50 â¬) was a big portion of over-cooked meat tasting only of dill and swimming in a watery sauce. The taste reminded me very much of the âtillilihaâ dill-meat served in Finnish school kitchens during the 1970âs.

Went there with few friends to have nice evening and there was band playing. The food we got was better than average and drink selection good. Friendly staff and atmosphere so I can recommend this place with warm feelings. Best visit during summer time and preferably weekend.

This pleasant restaurant is located near the Valtionhotelli. This time, we decided to order Roman artisan pizzas which had a little bit odd texture. After this experience, we prefer traditional thin Neapolitan pizzas. The service was friendly.

I have visited Buttenhoff since 1976, every time good food and good service. Today I chose blinis, wiener schnitzel and chokolad cake. Good choice.
