Just new in Heinsberg . Spanish style restaurant very well designed interior. We both had fish dishes which were very large, beautifully displayed.People next to us had schnitzels really large! Prices from ⬠11.- for the salmon to ⬠16.- for a mixed fish platter are very reasonable. The fries were unfortunately under done, you could nearly tie a knot in them. My wife had croquets and they were fine. Dessert are from ⬠3.90 and a bottle of wine from ⬠12.50. Service was reasonably friendly. Will soon come back again but ask for well done fries!

Nice Mediterranean restaurant, friendly and welcoming service. Good food, we enjoyed a sharing platter for two what could have easily been enough for four. Will certainly go again.

My family and I (ages ranging from 12 - 69) happened across this restaurant in late October 2013, much like the previous reviewer, completely by accident. We are very pleased that we did. The restaurant itself is well decorated and we were greeted by a very friendly host. The salad bar was well stocked with fresh, tasty produce and the main meal was served reasonably promptly. Having eaten at similar restaurants (in Bruggen and Hardt) the standard had been set high but the Croatia Restaurant did not fail to deliver. The food and service was outstanding and we were made to feel very welcome. My attempts to converse in (limited) German also appeared to be welcomed. Overall I would whole-heartedly recommend Restaurant Craotia to anyone staying in or visiting the area. We will certainly be back.I have only marked the atmosphere as 4/5 as there was only one other table in use when we visited.

I've been here several times with friends, family and with colleagues. Last time with my girlfriend. As always it was very good.Staff are always friendly and helpful in making a choice from the menu or suggesting a matching wine. The owner coming to your table and asking if everything is satisfactory makes you feel a home. The menu is extensive, from small to multiple person dishes, Croation, German, fish, meat. Each visit I've had an other dish and each one was excellent. Dish sizes are spot on.Strongly recommended to make reservations. One of my favorite restaurants.

I am an American-Canadian with a large group of Italian friends who live near me in Aachen. They all told me about this gem which is hidden off the beaten path. We drive 30-40 minutes each way to dine here but it is totally worth it.The food is so good it's hard to believe until you've eaten there yourself. We have had three dinners there, two lunches, 1 wedding celebration (friends of ours), our wedding lunch there (14 friends from 4 countries) and so far there hasn't been 1 person who wasn't delighted with what they were served. For those who don't delight in authentic Italian food they also have steak from Nebraska and a host of other dishes (no pizza or french fries here, athough when we once had little guests with us they "made" fench fries in the oven for them- very sweet!)A personal advantage for me is that they are also familiar with food allergies. I have two friends who both have Coeliac disease and I am lactose intolerant and they can cater to almost any dietary need. I really can't recommend it enough. I do suggest making a reservation if at all possible especially if your going to drive a ways there. They speak at the very least Italian, German and English all fluently!

Last night we enjoyed a wonderful steak dinner here. Manner Metzger is the restaurant to the gourmet wholesaler, Otto. They supply meats to most of the first class restauants in Germany. They have steaks from the States, Ireland, and Japan, plus other places I can't remember. We had the Hereford filet (170 grams) and ribeye (280). We also have the spinach and crispy sweet potato fries. Service was very attentive. This is not a place I would take the kids or someone who is not a meat eater. They offer a fish plate, pork and chicken, but they would be a waste to order here, when you've got such an array of different steaks. My only problem is the seating situation. They have bar chairs, high tables and booths. Not a place to go if you have someone in a wheelchair or someone who might have difficulty getting into a high chair. They have an extra room for larger groups with regular tables, but you would be seating there by yourself. We will be back.

This Michelin star-decorated and Gault Millau praised (17/20 points) restaurant is located in a quiet, rural village and has existed under the same ownership for 27 years - all of which speaks for its quality and renown . Two menus are on offer - either a set or 'Surprise' menu - with guests having the freedom to determine the quantity (up to 7 courses are possible). The restaurant, also known as the St Jacques, is justly but by no means exclusively renowned for its fish and offers a classical, light cuisine in the modern French style with the emphasis on fresh, quality products. It has also established a reputation for an extensive and quality wine cellar - with over 1000 bottles on hand as well as an impressive 'alley' of cooling wine cabinets as one passes from the front of the restaurant to the main dining room. The ambience is pleasing - unfussy and uncluttered with modern, fresh colours - all of which perfectly complement the restaurant's kitchen (also on view from the main dining room) and philosophy. Service is especially welcoming - and combines an easy but unobtrusive friendliness with an impressive food and wine knowledge. All in all, a place that's worth making the effort to visit. (Through partnerships with a couple of local hotels, a shuttle service to and from the bedroom-less restaurant is also available). Why then not the maximum five points? The weather when we visited permitted dining on the outside terrace which, although screened off, shares the space with the dustbins from the kitchen - with occasional noise and flies the result. A second minor criticism: we selected the 'Surprise' menu only to find that it contained the same dishes as the set menu. Not a problem as it was delicious but strange nonetheless. Viator Coloniae

Janses Mattes sets the standards for quality of food, service, and long tradition with the nice location and rooms. This should definitely be the Numer 1 in the local area.
