Situated overlooking Le Grand Plage and the ocean, the first floor offers superb views and spectacular sunsets as an adjunct to good food and friendly service. Prices are about what you would expect in a tourist venue. Reservations are recommended if you want to secure good seats on the open air terrace as it fills up pretty quickly of an evening.

This restaurant is in the premises previously known as Le Vigie but seems to have completely different staff. We went for dinner in mid September having reserved a table at 7:30 and were surprised to be offered a table on the terrace with the dining room apparently closed. Although it had been a very warm day the temperature was already dropping and after sunset at 8:30 it not only got distinctly cold but we were then attacked by swarms of mosquitos. Other diners who arrived as late as 8:30 were only offered outside tables and the dining room remained out of use. I mentioned the mosquitos when paying the bill to the waiter and another man who appeared to be the proprietor and they did say that they had been a nuisance for the last two days! However, despite this problem we were most impressed by the quality and originality of the food served. I had a warm chevre salad to start (not original but beautifully produced with walnuts and lardons and a substantial portion) my main course was cod with fennel and creamy risotto which was delicious and the pudding was poached pear with pineau. My wife and our friend had monkfish with pureed vegetables which was rated as very good followed by a strawberry dessert served with rocket which sounds very odd but apparently tasted delicious as a combination. Wine prices are reasonable 17 euros for a bottle of very pleasant Anjou Rosé.Overall then worth trying but if you are allergic to mosquitos go early or insist on indoor seating.

Came here on a hot summers day with the family for cold drinks and crepes. Nice restaurant next to the beech with fine sea views. The waitress seemed less than interested in serving us despite the establishment being empty and I would like to apologise to her for having to take her attention away from gazing at her smart phone. Other than that a nice place to have a cold drink or eat ice cream. Meals are also served here but we didn't want to intrude any further.

Located on the seafront of the Pointe de la Fumée on the peninsula of Fouras, the restaurant L'Océan welcomes you and makes you discover its elaborate home cooking fresh and local products.
This is where we go for seafood platters. Great setting overlooking the bay towards Chatelaillon. Lots of renovations have been done - it is very well presented. The menu has changed a lot over the years - they used to have a cooked seafood platter but now all of the options come with things we donât like so we do the build your own approach.Limited free parking so get there early or youâll have to pay to park across the road

My wife and I plus friend who was staying with us came here for dinner on a Saturday evening. We booked a table for 7:30 and were given a front row seat in the conservatory section that faces Fort Boyard and the sunset. Initial impressions of service were not good. We were not asked if we wanted an aperitif, the waitress who was taking orders was very unfriendly to all and she took orders from two tables that had arrived after us. However, she was then replaced by an older waitress who was much friendlier and also efficient. We all had the 29⬠set menu. Our friend and I had the fish soup which we both thought was good. My wife had a hot goat cheese salad which turned out to be something that looked like a Welsh rarebit with some lettuce. My wife said it tasted nice. For the main course I had halibut which appeared to be two fillets from an extremely young fish which were fresh and well cooked but did not have the depth of flavour that I have experienced when eating more mature halibut. My wife and friend had cod which they both rated as very tasty. The fish dishes were accompanied by a very solid and not particularly appetising mashed potato and a cube of some sort of vegetable flan which we could not identify. Both fish dishes were served with a rich and tasty sauce. For dessert our friend and I had apple tart and apricot tart respectively which were good with plenty of fruit. My wife had a pannacotta dish which she said was very rich. Service was speedy. We placed our orders at 7:55 and had completed the meal by 9:15. Although it hadn't been a particularly hot day the conservatory got very warm and was almost overpowering when it filled up to the point where we needed to ask for windows to be opened. By 9:00 every table was full with what looked like locals rather than tourists. The restaurant specialises in fruits de mer dishes and these looked copious and were clearly popular despite the price. Overall I would say that you will get a better meal in the centre of Fouras unless you particularly want the assorted shellfish dishes which central Fouras restaurants don't appear to offer.

This sea view restaurant is at the end of a line of them on the beautiful front at Fouras. On the day we went it was by far the most popular, for good reason. Exceptionally pleasant and helpful staff and very good local food.. And, on a hot day, shade well managed by the staff...
