Estavayer-le-Lac [estavaje l(ə) lak] (Arpitan: Thavalyi-le-Lé (help·info)) is a former municipality of the canton of Fribourg, situated on the south shore of Lake Neuchâtel. Estavayer-le-Lac is located between Yverdon and Bern. It is the capital of the district of Broye. The municipality of Font merged on 1 January 2012 into the municipality of Estavayer-le-Lac. On 1 January 2017 Bussy, Morens, Murist, Rueyres-les-Prés, Vernay and Vuissens merged into the new municipality of Estavayer.

Nous sommes venus pour la 1ère fois dans ce restaurant situé près de la Gare et Landi. Un grand parking et un accès facile en fauteuil. Un accueil chaleureux tout comme le service dans une salle de restaurant simple et proprette aux allures de train. Un repas de Bénichon exceptionnel pour très gros mangeurs! Nous avons opté pour plusieurs plats dont la fameuse et délicieuse soupe aux choux cuisinée à l'ancienne, des vols au vent à se relever la nuit et les traditionnels plats de gigot d'agneau avec gratin et haricots verts, jambon de la borne et saucissons et légumes, une meringue avec une généreuse crème double et glace et, pour terminer une assiette de biscuits divers pour accompagner le café si d'aventure vous avériez encore faim! Nous nous sommes régalés d'une excellente cuisine, vraiment. Du vrai, de l'authentique et sans chichi. Ici, tout à une âme et c'est si bon! à découvrir. Nous y retournerons avec plaisir.

Went there on a recommandation from our host, Phyllis from the Lady's Manor. We were disappointed. They do have a great location on the lake. However, it's a seasonal operation, and there seems to be a lack of competence both in the kitchen and in the waiting staff. I had a pork filet which was severely overcooked. The place was crowded, and the fast food items seemed to be OK. My son had a hamburger and he liked it.Just don't go there expecting too much.Quick note: locals call this place "the Club House" and it is in fact the club house for the local sailing club.

Lovely dinner here on a Saturday evening...the weather was hot, so the spacious outside garden terrace with large umbrellas was very welcoming. The servers were very kind, particularly the manager who personally went around to each table to greet customers.Food was good, but relatively normal for Swiss standards. The children's portion of fries was very big. However, after eating we waited at least 20 minutes to get the server's attention...even after we got her attention twice it still took a few minutes to bring the bill.Overall, a very nice family restaurant (changing table in WC) with spacious, beautiful terrace - though slow service.

The food is at best average, I would probably rate it around 2 over 5. Pizzas are quite weak and in particular the ingredients used do not taste very good (maybe a freshness issue?).The service is really terrible. If I could I would rate it negatively... We have waited more than 1h30 for just two pizzas... Several people that have arrived after us have received their food way before us (they seemed to know the place... so I guess it is better to be a loyal customer if you want to be treated correctly). In addition to that, the waitress was extremely rude (after 1 hour I inquired about when we would got our pizzas and she shouted at me something like "you just have to wait, there is no reason you get your food before the other customers") and disrespectful (not even saying thanks and goodbye when we were leaving the place after having paid).In short, do not go there, there are much better options in Estavayer (like la "Gerbe d'Or" or "Le Carmen", both are at a walking distance from this place).

At a somewhat unprepossessing holiday camp on the edge of Estavayer-le-Lac resides this welcoming lakeside restaurant serving up tasty, well-prepared food from an eclectic menu. A large terrace - bustling on a warm summer evening - provided a great view of Lac Neuchatel to the sunset over the Jura montains. Competent, courteous staff served us generous plates of tapas starters, local lake fish, tuna tartare, chicken curry, salads, lavender-flavoured crème brulée and fruit salad, accompanied by a good Swiss rosé. A very satisfying meal in a relaxing atmosphere.

We booked a table at this restaurant blind after searching the Internet for a suitable location to meet friends. We were not disappointed. We were a party of four and we enjoyed a three course meal. For mains, three had fish and one had meat , all cooked to perfection. The salad bar in the form of a rowing boat was quaint and full of delicious food. Desserts were of a high standard. We had a local Chardonnay wine aged in wood which was truly exceptional.

La Gerbe d'Or is a nice restaurant at the old center of Estavayer. It is a small place with very good food and a very friendly service. The salad served was very good with a very nice vinaigrette. The fish soup served in a large bowl and with garlicbread and aioli was very good as well though missed a little the spicy touch I like in such a dish.
