My cousin and I spent the afternoon hiking up from Hamry on the Czech side of the mountain and the Osserschutzhaus was a very welcome sight. It was a beautiful hike but I was getting thirsty and the Osser Pivo was quite refreshing and the farmers sausages warm and tasty. The view is of course spectacular in all directions. A strong wind and cool temperatures along with a slight drizzle kept most people inside but it was not crowded even then. There are several directions and trails to choose from when choosing to hike here. A good map or a very careful study of one before you embark on your hike is recommended as one trail may branch off into several. You might want to pack a wind breaker or hoodie as the temperature in this region can fluctuate and weather conditions can change rapidly. The menu is small but will consist of typical Bavarian cuisine. Schnitzel, Sausages and the like. I enjoyed the warm sausages I ordered. If hiking from Hamry expect to spend the 2.5 - 3 hours hiking up, an hour at the summit and another 1.5 - 2 hours on your way down. It makes for a great day trip! Perhaps someday I will make it back.

Lovely hotel, with amazing car sitting in restaurant upstairs. At end of meal Waltinis entertained with his magic show - very good (still don't know how he did these tricks)
Deswegen top so.

A warm welcome to the Eisensteiner Hütte! Visit our cosy stop-off to experience the best service on the GroÃer Arber! Our rustic atmosphere and modern menu await. You can also take in the fantastic view of the Eisensteiner Valley and the idyllic spa town
Visited in March towards the end of the skiing season. This restaurant is situated on the Grosse Arber in the Nature Park of the Bayerischer Wald. Recently renovated, the restaurant is open all year round. Accessible by ski lift. From a party of four, three had the salad plate, and nobody was disappointed. The Dampfnudel is a specialty.

A very clean and tidy, typical Bavarian Restaurant / 'Pub', whose name could be interpreted into English as "The Poachers Inn". It is located on the main street through Bodenmais, which itself is a lovely little holiday town in Bavaria and which caters very well for both the Summer and Winter (Ski-ing) holiday-makers. There are plenty of tables available inside in booths affording some privacy and also a large, open dining room with room for quite a few more. Outside, on a small enclosed terrace (only a decorative low wall, it must be said, so you can watch the world pass by), there are about a dozen tables for dining outside. It is always seems quite busy though never TOO busy, both with visitors and from the adjacent hotel, of which it is a part (separate building, although there is some accommodation above the restaurant, I believe), providing the restaurant service to the Apparthotel (Appartment Hotel)..The menu is Bavarian/German, in all its glory, and is well prepared, cooked and presented at table by a friendly, efficient and knowledgeable staff. There is also a good selection of German beer and wines, as well as a devilish selection of cream and chocolate gateaux . . . very tasty! For the non-German speakers amongst us, don't worry, enough good English is spoken in the Inn and you certainly will not starve ;-)Prices are v.good and will not bust the holiday budget, even if you 'splash out'.

The Berghaus Sonnenfels - at 1,150 m. The restaurant is located in the middle of the Great Arber, a large terrace for sunbathing in summer and winter, a large forest playground. Rest area on beautiful hiking tours. Local cuisine. In the winter, in the mid
Every waiter should go there and see how theses people work. I tzhink it is badly organized but what their staff can deliver is amazing. Very good atmosphere, best spätzle we had in almost a week.

Across from the Bahnhof, this restaurant, connected to the brewery, distillery and hotel, served some of the best food we had in Bavaria.
It is always nice when you can have good food, pleasent surroundings and drink local beer. We visited on a Sunday and it was full, but service still very good. Bodenmais is a successful tourist destination so there is a lot of competition, This stands out as good value.

We have visited restaurants owned by this family for many years, and they have always impressed us with their service and quality of the food. Highly dependable and the pizzas are some of the best you can find anywhere.Good parking area. For evenings booking is highly recommended. as everybody knows this is a good place to eat and natter.

Nothing major to write about here but that they have a decent offering of German cuisine. In case you like to eat Beef and Pork and are a typical German cuisine enthusiast, you may like this place. We had ordered a Fried Chicken with Potato salad and a Pork Schnitzel with fries. Would say that the taste was okay and nothing great.Recommended if you are a German cuisine fan.

A real "Wanderers" cabin set in the Nature Park of the Bavarian Forest, 2 hours east of Munich. 5km from Drachselsried. A winter and summer paradise, Very popular for over-night stops and has very good winter cross country skiing. Take the local ski bus in season, says a lot of hard driving.
