Things to do in Cotignac

The charming square of Cotignac held lots of promise, filled, as it was with bars & restaurants and the buzz of locals and tourists alike. Newly arrived in town, we had made no reservations for supper but hoped that heading out early, someone would be able to fit us in. With typical Gallic shoulder shrugging charm we were quickly disabused of this notion until the Madame at Pizzeria La Terente begrudgingly showed us to a table. By the time the food arrived I wished she hadn't bothered. I've eaten better pizzas from supermarkets, cooked at home. My wife's Sicillian pizza was saltier than the Med and the undercooked dough of the kids' pizzas was cunningly hidden under mounds of gloopy cheese. I had the special - bavette de bouef - fairly tasteless and served with over cooked beans and pasta.

We first visited this restaurant 11 years ago and last night it did not disappoint. The pizzas were very good and the desserts excellent. The service was also up to standard! Great to be back in the village

The three of us had exceptional fixed menu meals at 21, 28 and 32 Euros each respectively. The homemade foie gras (Canard) was the best have had anywhere. Salads are a full meal in themselves. Steak was a wonderful compétition to the finest Canadian beef available. The desert menu is extensive: the ice creams are heavenly. Even if we are all fluent in French, we were unfamiliar with a few culinary terms which the super-competent server warmly explained. The restaurant patio was absolutely full at the end of the 2 1/2 hour meal. Other restaurants in eye sight were nearly empty. The humorous and personable lady chef gave a name Betsy and Marguerite to the beef and duck I relished. Will certainly return.

Was so exited to visit this place -and so dissapointed when left.Good and nice location in town center - and ambience.Personell not attentive ,winelist minimal /dull in plastic cover ...and my Trio of Viande was uneatable. Chicken filets very dry . Can happen , but when I told the servant he could not care less. We were six persons and non had a good meal .Sadly -Cannot recommend .

The staff are untiringly efficient and pleasant even at the end of a long season but the food is a bland waste of time and is not cheap. Go across the road to the less fashionable looking Restaurant de cours.

We keep coming back to this superb café in the historic village of Cotignac to taste the latest creations. We have never been disappointed by either the fare or the service. Daniel, the maitre D, always has something new to entertain the patrons while explaining the reasonably priced dishes. There is both an outdoor and inside seating arrangement. This charming café is almost hidden in the Place de la Mairie behind the Remembrance Statue. A must for all visitors to Cotignac.

Our cuisine is that of Provence and Italy, terroirs and flavors, friendship and generosity. It evolves with the seasons, small market vegetables and fresh herbs accompany stewed meat and scented fish.
We went last year to this lovely restaurant in Cotignac and were not disappointed the second time. The building is right in the middle of the vineyards - a great location: our dog was allowed in - no problem: The food is cooked by the chef who owns the place and the efficient service is conducted by his wife and staff. All the dishes were very tasty.merci et ravi de vous avoir fait plaisir bon séjour en Provencedany jean luc et son équipe
