Local seafood, organic produce and captivating viewsWith an emphasis on fresh, local seafood, organic produce and attentive service, our Rannachan Restaurant in Oban is a welcome retreat at the end of your busy day.
As non residents, we dined in the Hotel's Rannachan restaurant last week (17.10.16). Whilst the food that we had was nice, our 'Local Lobster and Prawn Cocktail' contained no lobster and our 'Locally Smoked Haddock, Oban Bay Chowder and warm chunk of olive bread' was notably lacking in olive bread! I queried the missing bread with one waitress - who returned with one slice of cold olive bread for me, but none for my wife. I then raised this with a second waitress who informed me that 'it doesn't come with olive bread'.To be fair to the staff, they were clearly understaffed and struggling. The one guy running the bar was coping marvellously despite the fact that he could have done with at least one other colleague to help him.We will not dine there again!

We visited this restaurant last year (2018) and were very impressed by the menu, dining room and staff. However on our return to Port Appin recently, we again visited The Pierhouse, this time deciding on a Bar Meal. We had heard that the hotel was now under new management and had new members of staff, including the Chef but as the Menu was still very inviting we ordered our meal and two San Miguel lagers. Prior to receiving our first course, which was Cullen Skink, one member of staff brought our bread in a basket. However on receiving our soup about ten minutes later we were not provided with side plates. The main course of Haddock and chips etc which one of us had a very smooth batter, not crinkly and crisp as this traditional dish should be and it became soft and soggy in a short time. We would recommend that anyone having a meal here should check their bill before paying as a glass of Merlot had been added to ours and although both lagers we had were the same, one had been listed as a different variety which was dearer. The experience left us feeling service was totally disorganised and was a great disappointment to us. We shall not be returning in future.Dear SkimbaliteThank you for taking the time to leave this review for us; we very much welcome all feedback and do our best to use the comments in a constructive way. We are sorry that you were disappointed with your second visit to us. We have recently had new members of staff join the team, and your comments have highlighted that there are some areas of training that need to be reviewed. We can only apologise for this, and assure you that it will be addressed in the immediate future. With regards to the batter on the fish - we have discussed this with the head chef, and he has now changed the batter to a new and improved recipe made with Black Isle organic lager. We do hope that you will come back and visit us again, as we have - on this occasion - obviously fallen short of the great service and attention to detail that we would like all of our guests to experience. Kind regardsFiona McLeanGeneral Manager

Very busy place, running a âbeat the clockâ main course where you pay for your main course based on when you arrive so 6.25 pm, then your pizza or pasta cost £6.25 ... nice idea ... food was okay throughout, nothing stand out ... pizzaâs were small and doughy for a traditional Italian ...

Our complete dinner menu changes daily. You are assured of an excellent choice of fine dishes featuring local meats. Seafood and produce. While the menu is presented as a 5 course prix fixe, if your appetite is less, each course is offered a la carte.
This is a fabulous restaurant with a great choice of super food. My wife and I have stayed at this hotel many times and always enjoy the delicious food on offer. The menu is first class and I feel, after staying in other hotels that try and reach this standard, it is good value for money. There is always a good choice on the menu and the chef is obviously very talented, not just on his cooking skills but also on his composition of dishes and the variety of dishes. He or she is to be commended. The staff in the restaurant are skilled too, they are attentive and polite and also friendly. It is a joy to eat in this restaurant, so far we have had two great meals and will enjoy three more before we leave. I am confident that the next three meals will be just as good. I highly recommend this restaurant, one of the best in Scotland without a doubt.

Ee-usk is a modern glass building sitting right by the water in the busy harbour of Oban.We believe in serving impeccably fresh local seafood cooked simply. We are unable to accommodate children under 12 years of age for dinner.
Visited with my husband after a previous visit with a friend in August. I had raved about this place to my husband but I must say that this visit wasn't as good as the last. We had a nice table at the window downstairs as opposed to the last time in August when I was upstairs but I don't know...the atmosphere wasn't the same! We had booked for 7pm and it was quite busy and I felt that we were a bit rushed. Maybe because it was Sunday and the staff had had a busy weekend, we'll still go back because the food is good, maybe at New Year when we are staying in Oban for 4 nights.

We walked in and was able to get a table for 3. The food is fresh and nicely presented. The dinner is reasonably priced. Staffs are attentive even though they are busy. We had a great evening.

Whilst staying nearby we were pleased to find somewhere to eat, which didnât involve a car journey and which took dogs. The people were most welcoming and service was prompt. The menu had good choices but unfortunately the langoustines werenât available. The fish and chips and cranachan were all good.
