Set out of the way in Chinon centre, this a nice restaurant to have a relaxing dinner having booked by email from the UK with immediate response. As two couples, we sat in the enclosed courtyard which had a really nice ambiance and ate for the 3 course Menu du Jour which is very well priced at approx' 15 euro's. There was one waiter who was excellent, taking time to translate each dish for us in very good English. To be honest I couldn't say the food was outstanding but certainly exceeding the price, accompanied by a bottle of the local wine which seems to be set in Chinon to start at 24 euro's. For the four of us, dinner, wine, cognac etc, the bill came to 111 euro's, excellent value and for those concerned, the restaurant does take credit cards. Recommended!

Very relaxed and casual- a nice break from all the classic french cuisine around. Loved the pizza and green salad, and great service!

A group of friends headed to Au café Chaud for coffee and a bite to eat after visiting the Fort.Situated in the square beside the fountain it is perfect. The coffee and food was delicious and all served with a smile.

As so many restaurants were closed on Monday night we settled for this one as it had free tables. Now I know why! The menu was very limited and the ambience sadly lacking. Paper table cloths and paper napkins! Cheap cutlery that Uri Geller would have enjoyed bending and tiny wine glasses. As an intro to French cuisine it was a great disappointment. The duck was so so and the fish was bland. To be fair the waitress worked hard looking after all 10+ tables on her own. Will we return? Non.

Cuisine de poisson de mers et riviere, suivant le cours des saisons....plats à emporter,
With not too much of an appetite we ventured into the Oceanic, which is on the main street of Chinon. We indulged in some delicious fresh oysters and then also explored the abalone. A nice setting, a nice atmosphere and good food and wines!

One of the few restaurants in Chinon that were open on a Sunday evening. It was a very pleasant surprise - nice view of the bridge and the river from the terrasse, very good service. We chose the 3 course menu and the options from which to choose were plenty.Enjoyed it very much.

First time to have lunch here and certainly will not be the last. A hidden gem alongside more mainstream restaurants in the leafy main square of Chinon. Swayed by TA reviews and oh so pleased we were.Super service and setting, exceptional value lunch menu and top quality ingredients resulting in four super courses for approximately £30!!! Choices for each course, duck was an excellent main.Good wine list very reasonably priced by the glass.âBlack Forest gateauâ does not sound very exciting on a menu, but Wow! You will not have a better dessert!Very efficient and helpful staff (English speaking).Deserves a top rating, we will be back next year.

Again another review for this place as I've been back here again. This place most probably has the most extensive local cabernet franc wines in Chinon, I've eaten and drunk their wines here on many occasions and I've NEVER been disappointed. The owners are lovely and welcoming as are their staff. You will need to book.

We tried to get reservations on our first night in Chinon but they were full. We went by the restaurant and made reservations for the following night. So happy they had room. We had dinner on the lovely terrace at a table against the house. The menu is presented as a large chalk-written display board that is moved table to table. It is written in French but each item was described to us by the kind owner. We started with an aperitif and enjoyed the warm summer evening outdoors. We then opted for the 3 course dinner: Foie gras with mango chutney as a starter, the cod with fresh vegetables as our entree and the chocolate fondant with sea salt caramel sauce for dessert! WOW! The food was exceptional and the service was perfectly paced. All of the tables were full and it appeared to be mostly locals that had been there before as they were greeted warmly by the owner and his wife.We are so happy to have had a chance to dine here and would highly recommend to locals or tourists!

We had a very good lunch here, even though the service was a little on the cool side. The food was really very, very good but given the reviews and the restaurant's reputation we were just a little disappointed.
