A Place to visit next to a roman bridge in the very heart if Chaves. Amazing and friendly owners, who serve with love fresh drinks, tasty tapas and homemade cakes.

Nice modern space where you can eat the best 'francesinha' from the region! Deserts are also fantastic!
French croque monsieur, portuguese version...tasty, spice, only with local products...Friendly staff, whit care and attention to the customers even on busy hours...Creative decoration whit a tradicional heart...

This restaurant (miradouro, or, belvedere), is located in the top of a hill near Chaves. It is relatively near the city in a quit location. It is very good for a dinner or lunch, and present great beefs and codfish. The food is very good, the staff is friendly and the price is not too high.Be aware of weekends during summer, when it becomes more crowded (might be better do a reservation).

The outskirts of Chaves are hideous, so the historic centre comes as a relief. The same goes for this restaurant. We poked our heads tentatively round the door, ready to run, but the interior, though not wonderful, far surpassed expectations. So did the food. We enjoyed every bite of a fresh, diverse and tasty seafod platter, accompanied by a very acceptable and inexpensive local white wine.Service was first class. As ever in Portuguese restaurants, the desserts looked rather poor (the Portuguese really need to recognise they are way behind the rest of Europe in this area), so we were not tempted. For that reason I could not give a five-star rating.Top marks, though, for not inflicting upon us crass background music, which is what drove us away from the nearby Vidago Palace Hotel.

After visiting the Roman Bridge, we popped in here for dinner on the recommendation of one of the locals. The size of the interior was quite surprising. The front looks like a small pub, and the first room matches expectations. But we were ushered through to a room in the rear which was quite large and attractive. The room has bare stone walls with old-style wooden tables & chairs, brightened by red/white checkered tablecloths. The menu had a good variety of Portuguese dishes to choose from. I opted for the octopus which was delicious. The house wine was inexpensive and tasty. Service was prompt and friendly. A very good dining experience.

My family really love it hear and it's good but not the best in the Chaves area. Can get quite busy, food is good and reasonable priced too.

An excellent service! The owner let us taste octopus to prove it is really delicious if the cook knows what he or she is doing ! He was right! It was also a nice restaurant for kids. You must try it!

We were at Vidago and decided to visit Chaves for lunch. Following Tripadvisor recommendations we chose this restaurant located very close to the city centre. The ambiance was unexpectedly nice for a village restaurant. The waitress was nice, efficient and surely recommended correctly what we should eat, starting with local "alheira", followed by rice "fumeiro", very tasteful, and finally "fatias douradas" as dessert. The lady with glasses, I forgot to ask her name was simply the best waitress I had this month after passing by Seoul, Tokyo, Taipei, Hong Kong and last week Paris.

My husband and I eat out at least once a week, have visited most continents and eaten at many different restaurants worldwide and for us this is the best restaurant we have been to. The service is superb, the food is superb, the atmosphere is superb, just all-round superb. The wonderful owner, Sergio, even sings Fado music during the latter course of the meal. Everybody joined in and the vibe was just magnificent. And the food!! SOOOOOOOOO incredibly good and so much! We went two Sundays in a row and just loved it. We even drove back 100km as I chose to celebrate my 50th birthday there. I could have gone anywhere I wanted (Michelin starred places included), but I chose this superb place. There is no fixed price - you give what you want. Please give generously as I want this place to keep on going so that many more people can enjoy this superb place. Thank you to Sergio and all the wonderful staff there.
