Having arrived off the train, this was the first restaurant we came across, and took a chance. 17 Euros for 2 courses, and I have to say, all was delicious! Lovely steak frites, preceeded by a massive and well crafted salad. Good value 1/2 litre red wine at 5.5 Euros too. This seems to be a very "local" establishment, and the owner clearly know everybody well. It was a real pleasure to find something so un-touristy.

We visited on friendsâ recommendation. It has a great location though the way the restaurant is decorated and furnished is very clinical and this I think affects the atmosphere. Itâs clearly popular with the local people as it was very busy on Easter Saturday when we visited. The staff were efficient and friendly and the food generally pretty good though the vegetables that accompanied my smallish sea bass were seriously over cooked. There were no complaints however from my friends and family. My rating may be a little harsh but I suppose that I expected a little more atmosphere and slightly better food. The staff though cannot be faulted.

We had the set lunchtime three course meal for 19⬠My starter was warm oysters in a leek and cream sauce....they were superb followed by duck in a blackcurrant sauce with dauphinoise potatoes and then a very rich chocolate mouse all excellent quality. Looking forward to eating here again. I normally eat fish at the coast but the meat dishes here looked so good that I changed my mind and I was not disappointed they were excellent. We sat outside and although windy the glass screens protect you from the wind I even got sunburn in March so suggest a hat or scarf could be useful as the sun shades had not been put out this early in the season

We visit Chatel a few times a year, only had the pleasure of eating here once, but we will certainly be making this a regular choice of dining. Made very welcome with complimentary drink, portions are generous and tasty. Deco a little tired, but since we visited it's had a makeover. Looking forward to another feast there in a couple of weeks.Idem que la réponse précèdente, certainement une erreur de trip puisque la décoration a été entièrement refaite!!cordialement Logan et Antoine

We really enjoyed out meal here. The foie gras was superb as was the 8 hour cooked lamb shoulder. the other dishes were really. really good and the ambiance was lovely. There is an atmosphere of wanting to make great food for you to enjoy and they succeed. Lovely people who own it. This is a place we will definitely come back to many times. We love this town and were so happy to fine a restaurant that makes lovely things.

Seafood and local produce. Fish, vegetables and meats are purchased fees directly to the auction and the market of La Rochelle. Breads, sauces, ice cream, all is made by us in our kitchen!
Certainly a restaurant worth a visit if you are keen on fish. Ingredients are -logically and fortunately- fresh and of good quality and the dishes are well presented too. However i regret that there are no seafood platters or specific regional recipes offered making you feel that you could very well be anywhere in France

Another good place with a wide choice of food and excellent situation to watch a sunset. I have never seen such a wide selection of their type of food

Been there table of 7, 3 adults, 4 children.Sat outside and it was perfect. The owner is very friendly (in a French way of being friendly) and the food was delicious. Wine selection is decent. Definitely a spot you would consider if you want to avoid crowded areas of la rochelle.
