We stayed with some ex-pat friends of ours in Bordeaux and asked them to recommend a restaurant to which we could take them as some small recompense for their hospitality. Our hostess speaks French fluently so there was absolutely no excuse for the disgraceful attitude of those responsible for our service that evening. We should have known when we ordered aperitifs; two kirs(no problem) and two gin and tonic. Waiter reaction "No gin, no tonic". Ok we are in France, but seriously, in a restaurant with some pretentions of fine dining to have no stock of either is inexcusable. Le Gavroche in London seems to manage OK.This should have served as an awful warning, but further disappointments followed. We looked through the wine list and one of the wines had been crossed through, which implied rather that the others on the list would be available. Our friends are knowledgeable about local Bordeaux wines and we duly selected one from the list only to be told by our waiter that it was not available. "Je suis desole Monsieur".Choosing a meal was relatively angst free by comparison except that two of the dessert courses had to be ordered with the starters and main course, even though one of them was a straightforward french Tarte aux pommes with ice cream! My choice of main course was pigs trotters. This after much consideration, but I felt that rather than choosing a safer option I should try something new. What arrived was a sausage shaped roll of disgusting inedible fat. There should have been a mushroom stuffing but this was barely discernable. There was no meat of any description to be seen. We asked for the manager/ head waiter whose attitude was totally uncompromising. This was how the dish was served in France; take it or leave it. No attempt was made to offer any alternative. I asked him to take it away which he did. About ten minutes later he came back and said there would be no charge for this dish. The point was not whether the dish was acceptable or not, it was the totally unacceptable attitude of the staff who seem to have forgotten that customers are of some importance to a successful business. I may be old fashioned but if I find a plate of food unacceptable I do not expect to be spoken to like an ignorant peasant. Nobody present at the table would have been able to eat this dish and our friends explained calmly and in fluent French why we thought it was unacceptable. They said that they had eaten the same dish at other restaurants and that it lokked nothing like what was offered here. He was adamant that that what we had been given was authentic and properly served. That was that. We had preordered one of the desserts which was eaten. We then paid and left. Had our experience been different we would probably have spent another 100 or so euros. Some of the other food was OK. However, if you decide to go be prepared to enjoy everything that is put in front of you and to accept that some things may not be available. If not there is a good chance that you will be insulted. Be warned!

The restaurant has closed for restoration works and will reopen beginning of september. Get ready to discover a new âa la francaiseâ Steak House!
We were staying in the Holiday Inn next door, and their restaurant was shut so we were directed to this restaurant. We had been driving all day and were very hungry and looking forward to a nice meal, so were somewhat disappointed to go to a "chain" restaurant....however, we didn't need to be. We had an excellent meal and plenty of it! The food was freshly cooked and very tasty. We were very pleasantly surprised. The service was quick, attentive and friendly. It was a Sunday night and quiet in the restaurant....might have been a different experience on another night. Turned out to be just what we needed!!! Great.

We came across this bistrot by chance as we were staying at the hotel opposite and were really pleasantly suprised. The food was delicious and each dish was beautifuly presented. The service was excellent. The prices are very reasonable for the quality of the food and the service. I strongly recommend this place!

This tiny place offers Belgian finger food with french fries, saussages... and a wide variety of sauces along with Belgian beer. Staff is very nice and this place opened recently. French fries are excellent.

We found this to be the best restaurant find in Pessac. We choice the menu du sour for 29euros. I had courgette, eggs cooked at low temperature with tiny slivers of beautiful sardine, followed by artichoke purée, wonderful flavoured parsnips and tasty though slightly salty dorade. My partner started with coated pork with Chinese cabbage and ginger, followed by gigot of lamb, couscous with tiny chickpeas and tiny beautifully cooked carrots. Our desserts: mandarins, hot in batter with lemon sorbet and cream, and tiny pieces of Madelines with cream. Wine list was mainly French wines with a few from other countries, also good beers. Great local atmosphere, friendly and knowledgeable staff and great easy service. Will definitely go again. Al la carte menu also looked really interesting to try next time.

Driving through Bordeaux we just stumbled upon a sign on the road as we very getting hungry. As so often when you don't expect anything special you are surprised. In what looks like a private home , sitting beside the pool we enjoyed an excellent gourmet meal with friendly service. Typical food for the area but prepared with pride. The cafe gourmand , a selection with several mini desserts is an excellent close to a fine meal.

The owner/manager is very friendly and approachable. The starter salad was fresh & interesting. The flavoursome & traditional main course was served in warmed plates. The pear & chocolate tart was tasty and looked great - see attached picture. Vegetarians catered for too - but do let them know beforehand. Bravo! Will go again.

Directly opposite the Bordeaux train station. We had a leisurely lunch while waiting for our transfer. Plenty of space for our carry on cases. Waiter very attentive and knowledgeable even though we went for the set meal. Good value. Gazpacho soup particularly pleasant.
