Guys Bar and snug is one of the oldest establishments in Clifden, serving a wide range of local dishes daily until 9pm. Evening traditional music sessions throughout the season. Late night music on Thurs/Fri and Sat. A selection of wines by the glass.
We were four people eating in this "restaurant" tonight. We all selected different dishes and everyone was very disappointed by the food. Overcooked, no taste, too cold... Now the question is to know who is going to be sick tomorrow... Not to mention the staff quite rude with customers.

Going on reviews, we (two couples) booked in for dinner last night.Have to say that we weren't over-impressed. The atmosphere is great, and the staff very friendly. Our young waitress was particularly good. The food - sirloin steak, fish and chips, and salmon (2) was ok. It was let down by dry, powdery-tasting chips, and by being rather over-priced - not least the ice cream at 6.95 euros.A bit disappointing really.

A recent addition to the Clifden food scene Macdara's Bar & Restaurant is a small establishment looking over Clifden bay. Two vastly experienced chefs, coming together to help open a restaurant with the intentions of using locally sourced produce from loc
We drove up to Clifden via the Wild Atlantic Way and came across this cute town nestled between hils and the sea. After looking at TripAdvisor for restaurant recommendations, we decided on Macdara's and we were not dissaponted. The quaint style and great live music were amazing. The good was some of the best in Ireland that we had and the seafood chowder was the best my husband and I have ever had. For non seafood lovers (our daugther) there was a chicken pasta which was wonderful. You not only need to go to Clifde, you need to eat at Macdara's. There is a a beautiful patio out the back that overlooks the sea but we got there late and ate inside so we could listen to the music.

The graceful setting, with rich, panelled walls and twinkling Waterford Crystal chandeliers bestows a grand sense of occasion. Our resident pianist plays softly in the background while you relax and enjoy exceptional dishes from the kitchen of acclaimed C
Apparently King George V of the then United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland dined here and the republican and independent Irish still like to commemorate that occurrence which is nice in these days of Brexit tensions. Besides the French named an hotel in Paris after the man.The Dining Room is appropriately decorated in grand style and until recently evening male diners had to wear jackets and ties but ties are now no longer compulsory. So, it is that sort of place and I guess it encourages one to feel a bit of Downton Abbey has crossed the Irish Sea. Waiters in tails and silver cloches ceremoniously raised en masse from the dishes presented to the suitably attired and awed diners. It was fun but the food was not exactly exceptional though passable. Fine dining in terms of the venue and the service but a little underwhelming otherwise.Dear Kirkcaldylad,We greatly appreciate your feedback on your experience in our George V Dining room. We will certainly sit down and examine your comments with our Team. If you wish to discuss this further, I would be delighted to hear from you. Please do reach me on [email protected] if you have any further feedback for us, or if you wish to discuss your experience further.Sincerely,

Paddy Coynes Pub is a beautiful traditional pub set in Tullycross, on Renvyle Peninsula, Connemara. The pub is perfect for anyone looking for a good pint. Whether you fancy a quiet pint in St. Anns (the snug) or a bowl of fresh mussels by the fire, you wi
From the moment we walked in the door until the moment we left, we experienced friendliness, professionalism, great quality food and reasonable prices. The restaurant doesnât take reservations so itâs âfirst comeâ We weâre lucky enough to walk in and get a table straight away, but a wait in the lovely old bar would have been worth it. I would highly recommend this restaurant and bar and I look forward to returning. The food is excellent and the staff were helpful and friendly. The place has a sense of being well managed with attention to quality.

After a long day of driving, my wife and I stopped in for dinner on Sunday evening and they had musicians there. While the pub was busy, the owner made sure we were seated and served promptly. My wife had the potato leek soup with goat cheese and I had the seafood chowder. We will be back on Wednesday evening because the musicians will be there again.

We ate here 2 nights running at the end of August. Very tasty well cooked food. Good variety and the service was great. We were not rushed and I think the food was good value.I particularly enjoyed the Tai Green curry.

Long story short we missed our opportunity to get Connemara smoked fish direct from the source today during our looping drive through Connemara. As we were famished from our dayâs adventures, and wanted to celebrate with a grand meal, we looked up the highest rated restaurants in Oughterand. Our first pick was Powers, which was full, so we settled on Greenway. I need to state that while Iâm sure Powers Iâd good, Greenway was SPECTACULAR! First, it had features that provided the fish we so desired, which truly is the best smoked fish Iâve ever had, and, if these entrees are indicative of what else they serve, easily sets Greenway as the towns best. We even indulged in dessert, which capped off a magnificent meal.
