La Sole Meuniere restaurant is equally two steps from the centre of north Calais and two steps from the beaches. Its also quite handy for cars coming off the ferry from England. But with a restaurant this good, youd go out of your way to find it and
Booked an evening meal here after a recommendation. We stay in Calais en route home two or three times a year and have been dining at another restaurant close by, but it never had the wow factor....unlike this restaurant. You are made to feel welcome from the minute you walk through the door, friendly helpful and knowledgeable staff. Lovely location and the restaurant is very tastefully set out, and the food was every thing that we had been told. I had scallops in a sauce, which was delicious with ample proportions, and the fish main course was equally as good. We don't normally eat dessert, but we decided to have the two chocolate mouse between us....our waiter bought us out two dishes, one white chocolate and one dark chocolate...they were huge...we could only manage about 30% from each dish otherwise I might not have been able to move from the spot! Can not recommend highly enough, and it will be our highlight of our return trip from Germany in the future.Merci

L'Hovercraft restaurant is one of the best-known, most popular restaurants and pubs in all Calais. The supporters of northern football teams make it a point to gather here for sporting retransmissions on the big screens and there's always an enthusiastic
Not having visited Calais previously we asked around to find a restaurant for dinner and this one was recommended - fantastic choice. The service was top notch by friendly staff and the food was delicious. The only comment I would make is that my dessert portion was way too big - lucky I had help to finish it.

Restaurant traditional cuisine, Parisian bistro atmosphere. Reception room, veranda, air conditioning, near hotels, shops and beach.
Chose to eat here on a whim. It seems that to be allowed into the 'inner sanctum', you need to book a table, otherwise you are seated 'on the terrace' - i.e. outside in the covered area. Admittedly this is well heated without any drafts and it is nicely presented, but it does lack atmosphere.Quite an extensive menu so should be something for everyone and the set menus offer value for money. Was a little disappointed that the oyster come on a bed of salt (which seems to get in the shells even if you're careful) and only lemon - my preferred accompaniment is mignonette. It's also the first time I've been served oysters and been given fish cutlery with which to eat them.Generally the food was good, but if like me you are a chocolate fan, by pass the chocolate cake on the dessert menu. It is easily the most unimaginative version of a chocolate cake possible and is not served with any icing, frosting, ganache or glaze. Very disappointing.Service was nicely paced and efficient. Overall a good dining experience and I would not object to eating here again, but I would definitely book in advance were we to do so.

A Small Restaurant With A Traditional French Home Cooking, With A Great Wine Selection 400 On The Wine List, And A Selection Of 15 Wines By The Glass On The Blacboard. Eric The Wine Waiter Can Help You To Offer The Best Wine As You Wish With Your Meal.
We were attracted to this restaurant by its impressive choice of wines, many available by the glass. On the Saturday lunchtime that we visited there was only one other English couple in the restaurant, the rest were all locals who appeared to be regular customers. This proved to be a good sign.We both had a chicken dish which was beautifully cooked and presented with an excellent sauce and plenty of vegetables. As expected the wine was excellent. The service was very good it was a very enjoyable lunch time.

Just had to treat our son on his "wedding booze cruise" to our favourite seaside restaurant. Fabulous fois gras, tasty fresh oysters, succulent white flakes of sea bass, and buttered sole, rare fillet... Cheese board to die for and delightful crème brulee.Excellent service. Excellent venue.

Au Cote d'Argent restaurant right on the water at Calais faces the seawall with fascinating views of the watery parade of sea ferries churning in and out. The dining room puts you in the mood for excellent seafood, with varnished wood-panelled walls, mari
Not as good as was expected, the place is very cafeteria like with little presence and certainly no finesse the exception being the wife of the chef. Overall the food was good but service average, Interesting wine card. Whilst we travel often to Calais this for us does not merit a revisit.Hello,I am very very surprised by your comment...Very cafeteria ???Do you eat every day at Buckingham palace. But the food was good....I am reassured Kind regards.

We were looking for a restaurant with high quality food and service to celebrate the end of our second honeymoon, having spent three weeks travelling around France, Switzerland, the Italian lakes, Florence, Pisa, the Italian Riviera, and French riviera before returning to the UK. We certainly found it in this delightfully attentive and welcoming restaurant. Olivier was charming and helpful in his service, the food was exquisite, tasty and filling but not pretentious. A superb end to a fantastic holiday. Dear MUM-DANCER,Thank you so much for your post, we are delighted to know that your experience in our restaurant has pleased you, kindly regardsClaire COMTE

It was our last evening in France and we chose to eat our dinner in the Channel Restaurant. The prices were much the same as elsewhere and there was inside and outside seating. We ordered the food, having had to prompt the waiter, and the starter of âfruit de merâ came quite promptly. It was good. The main course, part of the 28⬠menu, was delivered after quite a long wait. The restaurant was getting quite busy and there were only two staff waiting on tables. One group decided to walk out after about ten minutes and we watched them cross the road to another restaurant. The âplatâ was good.We then sat for quite some time before we were offered a dessert menu. This was confusing as the dessert selection had been made with the original order. Apparently, the waiter didnât know that weâd ordered the three course menu.We eventually decided that we had to leave as we needed to pick up our car from a car park and check in for our ferry crossing. It was then that the missing dessert arrived. We declined, explaining that it was too late.On paying the bill, I queried the cost, feeling that a gesture could have been made to ameliorate the situation but was told that it was not their problem. We had been sat at the table for 90 minutes which, if there had been no time restraints, might not have been bad at all. The rudeness of the response to my polite request was upsetting and spoiled our evening, leaving the proverbial âsour tasteâ in our mouths. In the UK I would have remonstrated further but my French is not up to the standard required for subtle debate!Poor customer service and a real wolf in sheepâs clothing: I did wonder if his name might be Uriah Heap!HelloI am sorry for all what happened to you....but in Restaurant Le Channel we don t have outside seating.. and we don t have a 28 euros menu.... Best regardsThe Chef

Stopped here for lunch on day trip to Calais. Food was outstanding, beautifully prepared and well-presented. The three prix fixe menus offered limited but good choice of food. The little extras were provided by the things that were not on the menus, the mises en bouche, the bread, the little extras with coffee, etc. Service was attentive and good. I wish we could eat like this in the UK without paying silly money and being pretentious.
