World record holder for the shortest street in the world.
Sunday lunch sirloin beef with trimmings and Yorkshire Pudding. Many get it wrong as itâs often over cooked, but this was spot on. Just like you would have at any really good restaurant but better as the meat was reared just 3 miles away plus lovely freshly cooked vegetables. These people take pride in their food and it shows. Well done and thank you. We will be back.Dear RichoakThank you so much for your kind comments! The chefs do a great job with the local ingredients , we agree!Look forward to welcoming you back.Ellie

I had read great reviews about this restaurant but was quite disappointed by the menu.I chose the hot smoked salmon salad which was OK,my partner chose venison casserole which he said was enjoyable.£42 for a bottle of white wine was excessive. I was told they were short staffed which must be very difficult to try to run a restaurant.

A fabulous French restaurant with tasty and delicious food, however, the decor and fittings are very basic and could do with an update to match the food on offer. Service is acceptable and friendly.

Peet's is by the harbour, at the seafood end of the village - where the boats come in!! Lochinver lies in the heart of the spectacular coastal scenery of the North West Highlands, on the North Coast 500 route. Please call to make a reservation. Whatever y
What a difference a day makes! We dined at Peet's twice during our stay in Lochinver. The first night was very good. My fish platter was lightly cooked and very tasty. The following night it was a very different story. The calamari were over-battered, as was the fish platter. Instead of being light and tasty, it was thick with batter and stodgy. I guess they must have had the reserve chef on that night. Shame.

A family run Coffee House & Bistro in John O Groats. Our ethos is comfort food and good coffee at the top of the mainland using local produce
We were recommended by two people to have lunch here. We turned up at peak time, and were happy to wait the 40 minutes for a table, as the food looked and smelt delicious. I ordered the soup and a sandwich (with flat bread). After a few minutes a rather sullen teenager said the soup was finished. So my meal came with what looked like half a sandwich for almost the same cost as the full meal. After I had eaten my sandwich the food board was updated to say soup was back on. Why could the server not have just told me to wait a few minutes...The cakes looked good but were not priced. Given that I felt that we'd been ripped off, we opted to go elsewhere for coffee and cake.We are delighted that Stacks was recommended to you, not once, but twice and delighted you thought the food "looked and smelt delicious". You were clearly happy to wait for it. Weekends are always, really busy and our team works flat out to keep everyone fed and happy, making everything fresh to order. As you waited, you would have been able to see exactly what you got for your money as plates were delivered to other diners. To clarify, we do not serve sandwiches at all. There are two options, either filled toasties or filled flatbread wraps - wraps which cannot be halved. Adding to a selection of main dishes on the other side of the menu. The toasties and flatbreads can be ordered with or without soup. Without soup, they come with salad, slaw and crisps and would have been served this way (unless you specifically asked otherwise). The Meal Deal option of a large soup plus generously filled toastie/flatbread costs 9.95 but the flatbread+salad costs less from the menu as an item of its own. You didn't pay for soup if you didn't get it, so value was not compromised. We clearly state on the board outside that we're not a fast food place and our customers appreciate that good homemade food takes time. If soup runs out, we don't simply open a tin and produce more - we make it from fresh ingredients. In the middle of a busy service, our priority is to send out the meals already on order and seasoning/finishing the next batch of soup is done as soon as possible. Our waiters never promise a time, because there are too many variables - anyone used to either cooking or eating in good quality restaurants will understand this. We do not have "sullen" teenagers working for us. We do however have young people who understandably get tired after a very busy service and who don't enjoy having to tell customers something they want to order has sold out. Two of our team are only 14 and we've received countless lovely comments about how well they deal with people. Still, delivering bad news with a smile is a skill that doesn't come easy, so apologies if you felt your waiter to be less than cheery. We're glad you thought the cakes looked good, they certainly are! Again, all made from scratch using the best quality ingredients. What a shame you chose to go and find something elsewhere rather than just ask the price! Given all the good things you've said about the quality of our food and the number of happy customers we serve, we are disappointed with your two star rating, but accept you must have been desperate for a bowl of soup that day. A quaint restaurant located in the heart of the highland town of Thurso. Family run establishment serving locally sourced meat and fish produce. We offer USB charging points near most tables and superfast fibre wifi throughout, free of charge.
Absolutely delicious Portobello mushrooms with goats cheese and leeks, plus a rocket pear and walnut salad. And good Orkney beer to set it all off. Great service, a friendly fire burning altogether a super atmosphere - thank you Byand!

The Whale Tale is a wee cosy Restaurant on the west coast of Scotland surrounded by ocean, lochs and mountains, situated in the middle of NC500 route.
My wife and I chanced upon the Whale Tale by complete chance whilst staying at the Scourie campsite (which is excellent). Weâve traveled a lot and eaten at many fine restaurants with famous chefs and impressive reputations. Without doubt the food at the Whale Tale is quite simply sensational. If youâve eaten at the Witchery in Edinburgh or the Three Chimneys in Skye then expect a similar taste sensation here. For starters We had a superb Cullen Skink with the right balance of smokiness of the fish and creaminess and delicacy of the soup needed, with the other other starter a lemon soul ceviche which was as fresh as it was zesty. Mains were perfectly delicate sea bream and a punchy, melt in the mouth venison main. The couple who run this hidden gem hail from the Czech Republic have created a relaxed, inviting atmosphere and deserve all the success and accolades that will doubtless come. At the moment they donât have a license which means itâs BYOB, however thatâs no big deal as the food is the star here. Whether youâre doing the Nc500 or are in the area, you simply have to go here. Weâre planning our return already

Award winning Highland restaurant serving local ingredients in contemporary dishes. Organic and vegan wines, North Highland whiskies and Cairngorm beers, unpretentious food and a true Highland welcome. Booking always recommended!
Following positive reviews on Trip Advisor, we booked for a meal here while on holiday. This was one of the BEST meals I have had, anywhere in the world, in recent years. I started with the cheese soufflé which was absolutely out of this world. The flavour was delicious, the texture super light and the chilli cream sauce a beautiful accompaniment. My companions thoroughly enjoyed their chanterelles on toast too. A beautiful steak followed with french fries, mushrooms and tomatoes. Other dishes which delighted were the confit duck with hoi sin sauce and pancakes and sausages too. Desserts were of an equally high standard too. Iâd recommend the chocolate pot which was one of the best Iâve ever had. Service was attentive but not intrusive and Ian, the owner, was a great host. This gem of a restaurant is small and intimate but the standard of food was better than that of an establishment in a major city; if you are in the Bonar Bridge area, eating here is an absolute must and for us, provided a cherry on the top of our wonderful holiday in the area.Wow! Thank you for your super review! So pleased you enjoyed your holiday in the far north and especially your evening at the Crannag. Our cheese soufflé is very popular and a little bit different. The ambiance at the Crannag is enhanced when lovely people come in to enjoy themselves, and it was a pleasure to serve you. Hope to see you again next time you visit this beautiful part of the world.
