Three seniors visiting Brionne came upon this delightful Auberge, and just stopping initially for a coffee and calvados, decided to book for lunch the next day. Little English is spoken, but why should it be ? The three course formula menu gave lots of choices in each section, and every dish was imaginatively plated and a delight to eat. Wines were sensibly priced, and if you wish, the owner of the Auberge will happily add anything else you wish. Do not miss this this lovely typically French restaurant.

Be prepared to spend a bit more for 3-4 courses, but can get away with just 2, and it is superb. Professional, efficient service of a standard rarely seen. Reasonable choice of wines by the glass. Mostly indoor seating in historic building, lots of character and few foreign tourists.

Excellent food and service, if you select a menu be sure that you have not eaten anything prior as the different courses are accompanied with many "amuse bouches" and other side dishes. Great selection of wines in all price categories and large selection of cheeses.Beautiful Mansion with superbe view over Nassandres (also offers guest-rooms and seperate dining room for groups)We've dined many times here as couple or with friends and as owner of the guesthouse La Ferme en Ville in Bernay we recommend this restaurant to our guests looking for a romantic dinner experience and willing to drive the 15km to Nassandres for dinner

With a beautiful view upon the wide green planted square that leads to the abbey gate & entrance and the abbey tower itself; traditional crepes are offered in all types and tastes. We benefited from a sunny day and had our food served "en terrasse" hence enjoying the beautiful view upon the many flowers everywhere along the street & square, as well as the charming old mansions that close the square. Served portions are very generous by French standards and they are, contrary to some (though rare) preceding reviews, delicious. Furthermore, service is swift and smiling.Prices are very decent in view of the huge proportions and the tourist place. All in all an excellent address to stop at when visiting the abbey.

My wife and I have eaten here before, and are never disappointed. The hostess and waiting staff and wonderfully warm and friendly, yet professional. As an added advantage, the hostess speaks very good English, which helps people like us, whose French is a just a tad better than a school boy's. The menu choice is very good, we went for the penultimate fix prix, at â¬47 ph, which was a four course meal with amuse-bouche and canapés with the aperitif. The entree of langoustine was delightful, I would never have thought that raspberries would be such a perfect compliment to shellfish but it was. My wife really enjoyed her bream, which again was beautifully cooked. Our main was a canard, slow cooked with cherries and again delightful. I opted for cheese which was fine but ordinary for Normandy (so very good in fact), and my wife had a pear and chocolate dessert with warm vanilla custard which she said was heavenly.Great wine list, not silly prices, though you could 'go large' and have a bottle of 1985 Chateau Margaux if the budget allowed. For me, this is a wonderful place to dine, my only negative, and it will be a very personal matter for each guest, is the location and decor. The restaurant is part of a small hotel, which is on a roundabout with very non-descript buildings surrounding it which present themselves as your view from the table. Not an issue at all for dinner when it's dark, but not too jolly when it's light. Also the restaurant setting is a little like the reception of a Marriott hotel. It is very clean, smart and bright, lovely tables and presentation, for me a little stark, but my wife loves the modern feel. Overall great dining, wonderful hostess, mid to high cost, but a real find if you are in the Brionne area.
