Find out what European restaurants to try in Braunschweig. Also known as Brunswick, Braunschweig is, at about 250,000 people, the largest city between Hannover and Berlin. Many of Braunschweig's most historic buildings surround the city center Burgplatz (Castle Square), including the 12th-century Braunschweiger Dom (Brunswick Cathedral), burial place of the famed Henry the Lion, powerful early Duke of Saxony. Henry's rebuilt castle, Burg Dankwarderode, is also on the Burgplatz and is now a museum. The Old City Market is another popular visitor spot.

This stylish restaurant is located in Old Town quarter of Braunschweig. We can guess that the place earned a good reputation among customers as we discovered a substantial problem in finding a free table. The staff was very friendly so we managed to negotiate to have a quick dinner at the table reserved for another customer. Inside we found an interesting interior, nice atmosphere and fine food at moderate prices. What we can definitely recommend (to adults customers only) is to finish your meal with Kartoffelschnaps :-)

A great place to have a meal which is a step above pub meals as the menu is varied for all tastes, arrives promptly and is a large serving, price is very good. Although not a big restaurant, the atmosphere is warm and inviting and as it is a working brewery, the equipment and workings can be clearly seen from the glassed area of the dining area. The beer is also very good. This is a great place to dine with family or friends, and very close to the city centre.

Visited the Ox twice. By far the best steaks in Germany! Sides were really good, especially the cold platter appetizer. They have a full bar. And like everywhere in Germany the wine and beer were top notch.

Cafe Strupait was a nice surprise regarding atmosphere, service and quality of food. The staff was extremely friendly, polite, flexible and efficient. Even though we had not booked and the restaurant was fully occupied, we managed to get a table. They were also very friendly and easy going with children.

Bossa Nova is a very pleasant restaurant in Brauschweig. To start it, the waiters are very friendly and attentive. The food is delicious and they recommend great wine. I will definitely go there again.

Qualität ist unsere Leidenschaft! Block House steht für eine gesunde, ausgewogene Ernährung & höchste Qualität.
This is a place many people choose after they have been to the "Staatstheater" next door. The food is solid but not excellent. The steaks are good but don't rely that everything is cooked to perfection (e.g. the difference between, rare, medium rare and medium). The interior has not changed for the last 30 years. The salads and side riches are fresh and good. The service tries to be funny but is repeating the same jokes on every table. As I said in my rating it is a place you can choose but don't expect a gourmet restaurant.

.....this is a good choice. We went for dinner for our anniversary and were really positively surprised, The place is relatively small, but still there not too many tables for the space available and it is tastefully decorated in a no-nonsense modern style. The atmosphere is quiet, very good for conversation. the food was of very good quality in adequate portions and well presented. Service was attentive, competent and friendly. Sometimes a little less detail in the description of the different courses would have been better. Prices are high, but you do get good value for money. I guess we will be back.

Everything is good here, from starters (raw ham, burrata, mozzarella, grilled veggies and various seafood) to main dishes, wether pasta or meat/fish. All prepared and cooked in perfect italian tradition. A bit pricey, but worth a visit.
