Reviews on European food in Bowness-on-Windermere, England, United Kingdom. Bowness-on-Windermere is a town in South Lakeland, Cumbria, England. Due to its position on the banks of Windermere, the town has become a tourist honeypot. Although their mutual growth has caused them to become one large settlement, the town is distinct from the town of Windermere as the two still have distinguishable town centres. Historically part of Westmorland, in 2012, Bowness was one of the official stop off points for the Olympic torch before it made its way to the Olympic Games opening ceremony.

We had expresso martinis served in the loveliest of golden cocktail glasses. The barman was so friendly he gave my friend a lesson on how to make the perfect cocktail. Her previous attempts where dismal... very good vibe... just a little weeny bit expensive but we enjoyed!!! I would give it 4.8

Highly recommended Spanish restaurant, the service is superb and food exquisite. Wonderful atmosphere with Spanish music. Nothing is too much trouble! Waiters guide you to the number of dishes that would suit your needs, this was spot on! We were very pleasantly impressed. This was certainly the best restaurant we have been to this week!

I have visited many many hotels and cottages in my life time, but never seen a suite with all high tech and fancy technology. The hotel/staff and location is absolutely outstanding. Food is fantastic, I had scallops for starter and salmon for main ( absolutely delicious recommended. Lovely greeting and introduction by the manager/Owner . The room, hot tab and the flat screen tv in the bath is absolutely out of this world. It is our second time to Lake Windermere since 2004 and this time by mile is the best! We are celebrating my wife special birthday and we felt very relaxed and welcome. Recommended to everyone:-)) I love the full range of whiskey as Iâm a whiskey lover! A big thank you to all restaurant staff and management , they are all outstanding and what great welcome and professionalism! Great great great hotel âï¸âï¸âï¸âï¸âï¸âï¸

Friendly family run licensed cafe & bistro providing home made food, cakes and scones. Serving coffee and loose leaf teas. Traditional tiered afternoons teas. Breakfast, lunch and bistro meals.
Very nice and charming bistro! Menu had a great choice. It was a wet and miserable day so we were happy to find a happy face when we arrived. Food was yummy and we could tell it was popular as it was full the whole time we were there. The place is also beautifull decorated! Thank you very much! We love hearing lovely reviews like this and appreciate people noticing our hard work to decorate the cafe and make it a warm friendly place to visit

Had a little time to study the menus outside whilst waiting for friends and there really is a very good choice. You need to look out for the chalk boards as the standard menu and a piece of paper with a few extra dishes is what you're provided with.Had the snails for the second time in England and they were excellent; came with the appropriate equipment and some bread to soak up the garlic butter. Delicious. The Lamb Shank wasn't the biggest but it was cooked well with a few roasted veg.The wine was good, we had a few bottles. The Red was stone cold and they did try to warm it up but that's not easy when you're at the wrong temperature to start with. Looking forward to our next visit.

We chose here for our anniversary dinner and we were impressed from start to finish! Lovely venue, service was impeccable, the courses were timed perfectly, the decoration on our table was a nice touch. As my wife is Coeliac it was good to see such a varied Gluten free menu, the food was tasty and the flavour combinations were amazing. Would happily visit again when we're in the area. Thank you for picking Cedar Manor for your special anniversary dinner. We are pleased to be around 90% gluten free throughout this menu and intend to keep it that way as we develop new menus.Look forward to welcoming you back on your next visit to the Lakes.Best wishesCaroline and Jonathan

We hadn't decided where to eat and early on a Friday evening, downstairs was booked up. Fortunately they are very accommodating and there's a good space upstairs.Excellent service and we all enjoyed our food, it's tasty, homely food not fine dining. I had the Fettuccine with Chicken and Mushrooms in a cream sauce, it's something you could probably knock up yourself but it was well cooked and delicious.2 litre bottles of house Red, around £20, you'll pay a lot more for less in the area. We'll no doubt be back next year.

Our last visit to Jackson's was in April 2018. We were amazed when we were seated at our table on this visit and the waiter looked at us and said "you've been here before, haven't you?" Great memory!Jackson's is a small place situated in the centre of Bowness. The restaurant is located over two levels - a ground floor and a basement - and the menu was unchanged from our last visit. We started with some bread and olive oil and it was a good start, the different types of bread served warm on a platter. For our main courses my wife had the supreme of chicken and I had the lamb Henry. Both dishes were well presented and absolutely delicious, and we cleaned our plates. I couldn't resist a dessert and the chocolate orange cheesecake tempted me and left me completely stuffed.Divine food and friendly staff make this a place you really should seek out. Look forward to going again hopefully before too long.
