Things to do in Bernay

We dropped off at La Fontaine en route from Normandy to Calais, and we will be doing this again! Interior very comfortable and very pink! Very sophisticated atmosphere and environment, well turned out, with impeccable waiter service. Lovely food. We really enjoyed our stay. As a French speaker it was lovely to chat to what appeared to be the head waitress (who looked more like a company executive!) who was immensely helpful and charming towards us at all times. Noted also that some of the clients (largely retired, sophisticated people) had their small pet dogs with them. Very impressed. Very comfortable, very good food, and enjoyed every minute. All this enthusiasm is due to the fact we looked for ages to find somewhere to eat and then came across this place which was an absolute gem. A real icing on the cake.

Set in the middle of a car park, this quite small but airy modern greenhouse-effect restaurant is certainly popular with lunchtime locals. Fairly cheap feeling with plastic handled knives and casually dressed quite young staff, who do the job but without much warmth. Very slow service.Once you get served, the buckwheat galettes and dessert pancakes are good. The Normandy cider in cups adds to the local charm. And there are other things than pancakes on offer.

Even though it was busy we were welcomed and a table cleared for us straight away. The Menu de Jour was â¬14:50 and had three courses with three choices for each. We didn't have to wait long for the food and the service was polite and friendly. We sat in the courtyard and it had a very pleasant atmosphere with the quite of conversation of a busy lunch time. With drinks and coffee the total cost was about â¬40 - a really pleasant hour or so.

Stopped off here on journey further south. We ate from the set menu and the quality and of the food was excellent. The staff spoke little English, but were friendly all the same. The set menu was 12 euro's and was good value. I would definitely recommend this restaurant if you are in the area.

Very quiet despite being a Saturday evening, but clean and friendly with a good menu selection of pizzas and suchlike. Good service, sensible portion sizes.

This was our third visit to Le Romantica and this time we were accompanied by friends. We are always reluctant to recommend places to eat as everyone has such different tastes, but we felt sure this would please everyone. The thoughts of our friends; - the best starter I have ever had" - the escargot. "The best meal since we have been living in France (10 years+)"....guinea fowl, trio of chocolate dessert. "The most delicious taste ever"....braised beef cheek. We will all be visiting again and recommending it to others! Food Fantstic........need I say more?

What an incredible place...In a beautiful setting: lushy parc full of flowers, sitting next to the charming old mill, we had a dinner to remember... From the delightful appetizers (incredible petits-fours) and the reinvented guinea fowl to the desserts ( I recommend the Pain perdu, glace pistache, amandes grillées) it was an explosion of flavors...Service was perfect! The Chef won' t wait long before getting his Michelin Stars....Don' t miss Le Moulin Fouret...
