Seasonal food cooked with skill and passion. Intimate and relaxed dining room. Attentive, knowledgeable staff. A warm welcome from well travelled local Chef Robert Bryant.
We read a review and were tempted to try.We booked a table for 3 for Lunch.A delightful restaurant hidden in Maiden Street. There are only a few tables so booking ahead is strongly advisable.A very friendly reception and explanation of taster menu. Wine and drink options explained. Good selection of wines by glass or bottle.Service and presentation was wonderful. The lunch was absolutely devine.Probably one of the best we have had in Barnstaple. We were subsequently joined by the cheerful and enthusiastic chef. His passion for the customer's fine dining experience was wonderful. This is considered pop up restaurant as the lease ends in December.I recommend a visit, we will definitely be repeat customers. Hopefully this restaurant will prosper it deserves to as the fine dining flavours are superbThank you for your lovely review! We are so glad your enjoyed everything, we have actually just decided to extend our lease so I do hope you will come and try us again soon. kind regards, Hannah16 Maiden Street

We (family ages from 9 to 82) enjoyed a fabulous meal for my slightly belated 50th. I wanted to do something a bit different than an evening pub meal and this place fitted the bill perfectly! Very glamourous setting and nice bar with sofas to have a pre dinner drink in. Expecting minute but perfectly presented courses we all tucked into the rolls with gusto, but we were all very pleasantly surprised to find full-sized but perfectly presented courses! Some of us didn't quite finish we were so full, and we're not usually incapable of scraping a plate. So go expecting normal portions, you won't need to top it up with a McDonalds afterwards, that's for sure. Another big hit was Steve, who kept the kids amused teasing them, especially the youngest. It created a lovely comfortable non-pretentious atmosphere but in an otherwise glamourous restaurant which just fitted the bill perfectly for my special occasion. We topped it off with non-alcoholic cocktails and grown-up cocktails made perfectly by Andrea. We will definitely be returning & not waiting for a special birthday next time! Thank you all.

The bank is a great conversion - the managers office in particular is a great place to eat. Food was all good but the mac & cheese is about the best Iâve ever tasted. The Chichester Arms is a traditional 15th century thatched inn and has been the hub of village life in Bishops Tawton since 1880AD. Our idea of pub food is not fussy gastronomy; it's proper "Man food" prepared and cooked here at The Chichester Arms by mys

Claytons & The Glasshouse offer some of the finest food and drink experiences available in North Devon. We stock a wide range of spirits, beers, wines and ciders to suit every taste, whilst our Head Chef rustles up some truly special dishes in the kitchen
We were in Barnstaple for a couple of days and wanted somewhere nice to eat, and preferably an independent establishment. We came across Clayton and the Glasshouse of a side street. We were quite late for lunch but impressed with the choices which included several fish options and a âchefs choiceâ. The food was really tasty and served with a nice selection of well cooked veg. The wine we ordered was lovely. Service was great, nice friendly staff who offered to show us the amazing roof terrace, lots of glass, a covered and open area, we will go back just to eat upstairs! All in all we really enjoyed this place and so happy to find somewhere that wasnât your same old chain food!Thank you for your review! Please show your review to a member of staff on your next visit to receive 5% off your bill!Kindest regards

Nestling in a gloriously green woodland valley, two miles from Barnstaple, Broomhill is a stunning late Victorian hotel with a twist ... there is fantastic art everywhere. With an award-winning restaurant, contemporary art gallery and sculpture gardens di
Valentines set evening meal very reasonably priced three course meal. Quirky clean and nice surroundings let down only by toilets which were old fashioned and with roller towels ! thought they went out with the ark for very good hygienic reasons? Also towel in mens' had come to the end. The amuse bouche was very tasty, the starters ( a mixed tray) looked very attractive and were pleasant but a little bland. The main courses ( beef and lamb) were tasty but the pannacotta was very bland and topped with messy uninteresting meringue. The cheese board was superb. The staff were friendly. Overall the atmosphere in the side room was like a library. Not our cup of tea sadly but maybe of interest to those who particularly like vegan.
