Things to do in Ballycastle
You could easily miss this cute establishment as you drive over the mountain between Ballycastle and Cushendun, but if it is a weekend and you are feeling peckish you are in for a treat. Watch out for the brown tourist sign near Ballyvoy village for the Herb Garden and if the restaurant is open they also put out a white board. Their garden produces fresh traditional culinary and medicinal herbs (all chemical free) and is open all week. Also some seasonal vegetables including potatoes, courgettes and lettuce and some breads, jams, honey, oils and vinegars. The Tea Room using the garden produce, opens in July & August, and only on Saturdays and Sundays. We stopped off at lunchtime one Saturday and the food was delicious. We were seated in their new conservatory extension on lounge-type soft chairs and couches at a low table which I found a little uncomfortable for eating at. They do also have normal high chairs and tables as well. I had a smoked salmon open sandwich served on Irish wheaten bread with a liberal sprinkling of fresh garden herbs and tomato salsa. A friend had the plughman's lunch which came as a wide selection of cheeses servied with a small individual loaf and a couple home-baked Irish oatcakes and more herbs. We had a large pot of teas to was this down. For afters we were offered a wide selection of traybakes and home-made scones, but we had no room! The food was delicious and the service extremely efficient, fast and friendly. Full marks. If you are passing this way, give it a try !

We stopped at Coast Inn as part of a GOT/Giants Causeway tour and pre-ordered lunch. I'd say we had a reduced menu to choose from, reading other reviews below. I ordered a steak and Guinness pie (£8.85). It came out warm, barely edible chips, and a salad of onions and red cabbage. This was a dream compared to the Irish stew (£5.95). It resembled vomit spotted on the streets of Belfast on Saturday nights, and had mashed potatoes, rather than chunks with a thin watery lamb mince. There was no atmosphere, and we were the only people in the venue - does that say enough? Reading the reviews below, we wonder if we missed something, ate at a totally different venue or just ate there on an 'off' day. A most disappointing meal which totally contrasts with the outstanding food we've eaten so far in NI.

Brunch, lunch, dinner and drinks!!
The captains delivered a decent brunch for myself and my little boy. It's standard northern island breakfast fayre with a few extras. The coffee was good and well brewed and the Canadian breakfast my son had which had pancakes and maple syrup and enough streaky bacon to sink the Ramore Ferry was the highlight. The girls behind the counter were pleasant and the service was quick. A place to go to again.

Wasn't asked how the food was so didn't get the opportunity to raise issues with staff. Food wasn't great , have had much better burgers down at the chip shop. Unlikely to return. Doors constantly opening and closing for people to smoke outside front door. It's a shame as it's a nice place.HiThank you for your review on your recent visit to Marconi'sWe apologise that you were disappointed with your meal & that we couldn't rectify issues at the timeOur menu's have recently been updated and our new Autumn/Winter is now ongoing. We have a large variety of seasonal dishes to choose from and would love to see you in our dog friendly hotel.Warmest RegardsRestaurant Manager

Ballycastle's best kept secret...
It was suggested by the owner of the Carnately Lodge and we were not disappointed. Although no table immediately available, after a drink in the local O'Connors Bar, we returned to find our table ready. The choice of food is extensive and well presented. My Fillet steak was excellent and not too pricy. The staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Overall, a really nice dining experience and congratulation to Chris for running a lovely restaurant.

This Family run establishment was 2009 finalist in the Northern Ireland Tourism Awards. From its traditional bar to its chic restaurant and enclosed beer garden its a perfect venue for a great experience in entertainment and dining.
We visited on a busy Friday night. Unfortunately, the staff was not ready for a crowd. We had a long wait to order food and did not get much attention from them. When the food finally arrived, we were pleasantly surprised. Very tasty and high quality!
