Reviews on European food in Baden, Lower Austria, Austria. Also known as Baden bei Wien (Baden near Vienna), this spa town is chosen by those looking for a little bit of relaxation. The origin of the city goes back to the Romans who were the first to enjoy Baden’s sulphurous mineral springs. Later, Baden became a favorite of Austrian emperors who would come from Vienna (26 km) to enjoy a bath in hot waters. Today, visitors fall in love with the many historic buildings, monuments and picnic areas in beautiful parks around the city. Connoisseurs of classical music can follow in the footsteps of Baden’s most famous visitor, Ludwig van Beethoven, who visited Baden numerous times.

We have been invited to some delicious fish by our kids. The prices are quit high but the quality of fish and Beef is good. Unfortunately the kitchen was surprising closed . So we can´t give a feedback concerning the dessert â¦.

Enjoy the best of Austrian cuisine and taste the characterful wines from the spa region. Heuriger Kernbichler in Baden near Vienna presents a quaint and familiar atmosphere, where people eat, drink and laugh in a friendly atmosphere. During our Aussteckte
We stayed in Baden for two nights and very glad to find this very pleasant establishment open on a Monday night. It is clearly popular with locals but the owner made us feel very comfortable from the moment we arrived. Excellent salad buffet to enjoy while you wait for your food. Very good local wine selection served with knowledge and care. Typical large portions which we could not finish but we still found room for their home made strudel. Recommended.

We had lunch at this very charming Restaurant- choosing an outside table - as it was a very hot day I ordered a Chilled Cucumber soup with Dill and River Garnellen, excellent- the others in the party all had Backhendl Salad which was also very good - a Marillen Knoedel was a Good ending- the service was friendly and efficient- all in all a very good experience

Rather than having the usual fish platter or lamb I decided to give a go to something more traditional. The veggie starter with pitta bread was really excellent, and was followed by a great Moussaka (minced meat, melanzane, potatoes), also excellent. All in all another great evening

A bit outside the trodden paths, situated in the Dornau hamlet of Leobersdorf and even most GPS systems can't properly locate the address... The Kunstmühle restaurant is set in old farm buildings right next to its erstwhile chateau domain (known as Gut Dornau) and gets its fish fresh from there. And the chef knows fish... and prepares it a no frills no nonsense kind of way, do not expect fancy tidbits artfully arranged on designer plates here. Our favourites are the local lake Saibling or else salmon trout. Excellent rainbow trout is almost always on the menu too of course.Secret tip for fish lovers: on Friday mornings, entry to the fishmonger situated in the buildings of the "Gut" is open for the general public. Enter through the gates into the beautiful park, watch live fish still swimming in its tanks, line up(!) and buy fish at the counter.

A great Italian dining experience in the beautiful town of Baden. I enjoyed the restaurant so much that I visited it three times during my week here. San Marco has a selection of pasta, pizza, salads and meat dishes. A couple more vegetarian options would be a great addition. The service is friendly and the food presented impeccably.

The cafe is very centrally located. A good place to people watch, even in winter. Average Austria price. In addition to coffee and sweets, a good place to have some small and cheap lunch. The service style is very much Viennese style, very efficient and effective, but don't expect a smile. Ok, maybe it's just a little warmer than in Vienna. This is a holiday town after all.

The DO&CO remains a top restaurant in Baden. It is definitely intended for those who are successful at the casino next door or anybody else who can afford it. The food is excellent, the atmosphere classy.

Visited for dinner as a large group of family and friends including young children. It was a busy night and yet service was exemplary. Nothing was too much effort and food came quickly for the children which was a great help. We often visit Gaucho in London and this restaurant served the familiar favourites when it came to steak but also offered a variety of different starters that we enjoyed sharing and were all perfect. After a week heavy with red meat I made the unusual decision of going for fish in a steak restaurant - swordfish steak to be precise and it was cooked to perfection and delicious. I do hope Guacho in the UK survives but if not trips to Austria may feature more regularly on our itinerary !!
