We decided to stop at a nice restaurant instead of eating in food courts on the high way and it was such a good decision. The restaurant is easy to access from highway and it offers a great service food and atmosphere. There were 11 of us, kids, vegetarians and meat lovers and everybody was thrilled about the food, adults could enjoy excellent selection of beers. Highly recommended, we will be back!Thank so much Agata! We are looking forward to your next visit!
Eine der wenigen urigen Kneipen.Das Flair blieb trotz einiger Renovierungen erhalten.Essen gut und günstig.Personal freundlich, Gaststube sehr gemütlich.Hier kommt man gerne wieder her.

Why, you might ask, would one go to Germany and eat at a Greek restaurant? It is there for the Germans who like Greek food, but why would a visitor go there? Our reason was that since leaving London, the treats of having Greek foods without a 100 mile journey are non-existent, and with online rave reviews it was a no-brainer. I do not need to write extra comments as other reviewers have said it all. Family run, outside tables, too much food - go and ENJOY!Below it asks whether there is free WiFi? WHO CARES? You are there to EAT, not interact on social media. GET A REAL LIFE!

Traditional Oskar - das Wirtshaus am Markt, is situated in the historic old town hall of Bayreuth. The restaurant accommodates visitors to the town and local clientele who enjoy a hearty feast. Here you will find young Franconian cuisine, cooked and serv
Ate here at lunch and dinner during the Bayreuth Festival. It was busy but not full. Restaurant is a traditional wooden beamed establishment on the high street, 3 mins walk from the Goldener Anker hotel. It was stifling hot inside (lunchtime) and not a fan in sight. Eveningtime was still warm inside. Reception was haphazard but friendly. English is spoken by a few waiters.Best dishes:wiener schnitzel(made with pork not veal), roast pork shoulder with crackling and spare ribs. Everything in large portions by UK/Austrian standards. Reasonable prices for such large portions. Most of the patrons (German) were sitting outside in the evening. Good restaurants are in short supply in the town of Bayreuth, so Oskar's is a helpful standby. Quick word on the town:it is all about Wagner. If not for its connection to Wagner (he lived and composed here). No nice restaurants, no posh shops, no deli...Bayreuth is definitely a very small town, and by the looks of it, has seen better days. The Festival is keeping it going, and the Margrival opera house is beautiful and unique.

We celebrated our dual wedding anniversaries with friends of ours in this Hotel/ Restaurant. After some trouble at the beginning the evening did turn out great. The food was not up to the standard that I was hoping for but it was good. The view from the terrace is breathtaking. There was a wedding at the same time that we were there but the service was able to handle the extra quests.

Found the place via Trip Advisor. Food was good. The surprise was my American expectation for Gyro and a German interpretation. It was very tasty but unexpected presentation. We had the assorted olive plate as an appetizer. Service was good. All and all a very pleasant experience. Thanks for your review!

I knew Alexander Herrmann from his TV appearances and since we were in Franken anyway, I planned to take my wife to his restaurant for our anniversary. Unfortunately the Gourmet-Restaurant was closed on that day and we "only" could go to "AH - Das Bistro". I was a little bit worried that the food there would be just normal.Wow, I was so wrong. The food was excellent and different - there are quite some typical regional dishes, which are prepared in a different and delicious way. On top of that the prices are very reasonable especially taking into account the quality of the food.Overall I can only recommend this place for any special occasion - we will definitely come back!

Absolutely stunning degustation menu with perfectly prepared foods from local produce and protiens. Nicely staged, paired perfectly with some incredible wines, and very well thought out menu. I'd put this into the same category as Nomi, Trotter's, and any Robouchon restaurant. Bring your checkbook.

I had a quality filet done perfectly and my wife had the salmon. Both were prepared to perfection. My filet came with a mixed salad that was packed with cucumbers, peppers, etc. and my wife had an assortment of cooked veggies. A perfect evening in a tiny town a few Kms. from an autobahn.

We had one evening meal here. The food was very good. The kitchen skills were excellent. My wife had a local wild trout that had been boned before cooking and arrived looking as if it was a normal fish that had been cooked whole. Service was friendly and efficient. we would definitely eat here again.
