Two friends and I were looking for a place for lunch in Arcos de la Frontera. The picturesque village was packed and parking was difficult so we ventured on the outskirts. All we saw at first were noisy bars until we found this restaurant. Their dining room is not open at lunch only the bar is with a limited menu. The very friendly waiter (he could have been the owner?) offered us the lunch menu but he also told us that we could have one selection from the dinner menu (he was making it for some friends). If you go you must have the snails: they were perfectly cooked in a delicious garlicky sauce. The desserts were homemade too.I would recommend you have a cocktail one of the many establishments of this beautiful perched village (if you can find parking) and head for Mariquilla Trifulca for your lunch or dinner ..... a lot cheaper and better too.

We tried this place because we fancied a quiet resturant. It was quiet, rustic and very Spanish, the staff were very polite and helpful, the food was very well presented and cooked perfectly, and when we finished the meal we were presented by two of the largest brandies i have ever had.Yeah its quiet, yeah its Spanish, but if you want a full english or roast beef and yorkshire pudding, stay in England. This place is Spanish and very proud of it,and I happy for it to stay that way
Traditional kitchen bar Homemade meals since 1983. Specialty in snails and stews. Tradition and quality in a unique family environment.

It is a restaurant located in the old town, next to the convent of Mercy . Its development dates back to the fifteenth century. Has its own quaint atmosphere of that time with an indoor lounge invites communication and dialogue. Also it has a manuscript d
The quality of tapas here would have to be rated average. Portions seemed large, and they seemed to have a penchant for making mistakes and bringing food which we didn't think we ordered. Some of the tapas were quite good (cheese plate, gazpacho), while others disappointed (the fried camembert was certainly not camembert, but some sort to hard chees and not cooked enough to melt it). Our bill ended up quite high, which makes me suspect that we were brought (and charged for) full orders of tapas instead of the half orders we selected.

Our third visit over the last year to this restaurant just outside Arcos. The menu has some wonderful unusual dishes beautifully prepared and all served with charm and care. Prices are reasonable and the view of Arcos from the terrace is fab. And the warm bread rolls... Wow! It'll soon be necessary to book a table even on weekday evenings! Hope to get back there soon.

It was our first time in this resturant, as most of the others were closed, and we really enjoyed the food. We ordered 3 Tapas's between the 2 of us and it filled us up,with drinks the price was very reasonable at E21. My girlfriend really liked the pork with goats cheese.

My daughter & I stopped in for a light dinner but weâre having trouble enjoying most of the Spanish food. Our patient waiter brought us a combination plate of ibérico ham, pork and friend potatoes which was excellent! The only negative was it took awhile to get refills and our bill. Dear BonnieNimmo,Thank you very much for your visit to our bar and we appreciate your comment. Team Bar La Carcel
