Comment Dire . Un Bar / Bistrot / Au Mileu Du Marché. Une Cuisine Qui Se Fait Devant Vous. On Ãpluche.
The restaurant within the market was nothing special. It was raining buckets outside and the restaurant was crowded. Imagine coach seating on a cheapo airline with odoriferous seat mates (local denizens). The menu is hand written on a chalk board that they plunk down in front of you and you have 120 seconds to decide what you want. I took fish and chips thinking I would get some decent fish in a bleedin' fish market. Wrong!! It was made of some kind of processed protein that bore no resemblance to fish. It was accompanied by one large carrot about 9" long and not cut up. A fat zucchino that was virtually raw and a small salad with greasy dressing and sandy lettuce leaves. Not a fan. My wife had what was advertised as a Spanish tortilla with Spanish ham. It was clearly a store bought frozen tortilla that had been nuked. The Spanish ham was served separately and was sliced way too think. It was 2mm thick but obviously should be paper thin. Will avoid the restaurant portion of the market in the future. Judging from the locals present alcohol is as important as the food. These folks are knocking back drinks at 9:30 AM.

We tasted two sweet crepes , one with nutelka and one with caramel: both around 5⬠each: they are good, very thin, but with a little of sliced strawberries or banana and milk cream would be really great without any additional cost. Parking available along the street. Beach very close .

We stayed in Arcachon for 10 days and found this restaurant on day 4 and returned again on our last night. Best restaurant of the holiday. The menu was not extensive but had an interesting variety of choices and experiences. Front of house staff were friendly and very helpful, explaining the menu when asked. One of the chefs ( who was actually the owner) visited all the tables on both nights and remembered us and was keen to discuss our food choices, especially as our son is a chef. We can not recommend the whole experience highly enough but be warned you will have to book in advance.

Highly impressed by the professionalism of the service and a particular mention for the Maitre D and sommelier. The food was inventive and delicious. One dish failed to hit the mark and we advised accordingly, and received a recompense. The main room is delightful and the atmosphere was relaxed and fun-filled.

We wanted to have fresh oysters for dinner in Arcachon, and were looking around trying to decide where to eat. The guy at the restaurant told me that they are producer of oysters (if I understood correctly with my poor French), so we decided to eat here. Coming from Japan (that also produce oysters to be eaten fresh), we wanted to eat good ones. He did not disappoint us!! Very fresh and very good oysters! We also had boiled shrimps, a salami & cheese platter and some white wine from Bordeaux. The price was very reasonable. They do not speak English, but try their best to explain & show what it is. For example, when I asked what the difference between no. 2 oysters and no. 3 oysters on the menu (i could figure that it is the size), the waiter brought actual oysters in different sizes to show us.

I wish them good luck and I promise I will come back when I visit again.Merci Beaucoup!
