This restaurant outside Amarante on a quiet place, with a stone building and with an huge car park, has typical Portuguese food.Attention that a single meal is enough for two.We had bacalhau and rojões, both very good and in double portions.Service by young and properly dressed young girls, was nice and efficient.A place to go back, definitely.

This is the kind of place where you can get a good example on how to eat in this region of Portugal. We had "Vitela Assada" and it was really well cooked. Both potatoes and vegetables tasted very well and the whole meal had that characteristic taste of the wood oven. The starters were also excellent and so was the dessert - a plate of local cakes that were perfectly made. The only thing I didn´t like that much was the local red wine - it is a better option to pick a bootle from the wine selection, that although more expensive, will certainly be worth it. Thank you for your fantastic review. You are always welcome!Best Regards, Taberna do Coelho

This is a great little gem in Amarante. We visited it on the way to Douro. Small but great local selection of tapas-style food and wine. We had a ham sandwich and a chorizo with wine. We took some ham and and wine back home. A very good price for great quality, hard to find anywhere else. Donna Maria, the owner, has welcomed us with a big smile, adding to the cosy atmosphere. We will return when we have the chance.

You wouldn't suspect there is a restaurant : no sign outside. You come here either by chance or because you heard about it. You actually have to book in advance. We had meat and fish, both excellent, with vegetables. Most customers are local, families come here, conversations from one table to another and food sharing are common. A great and authentic place!

Just across the bridge from Igreja de Sao Goncalo and down some steps is this small unpretentious restaurant that serves delicious Portuguese food at a reasonable price. We recommend the battered squid and fried fish, both served with garlic cabbage and boiled or fried potatoes. We also enjoyed the pepper (capsicum) and onion salad with an olive oil dressing.

This restaurant is authentic Portuguese and came highly recommended by the hotel concierge when their Michelin star restaurant was unavailable due to wedding party. What a treat! Not crowded early on a Saturday night, (I believe the locals tend to eat later). Were leaving early in morning so we were the first people seated at 7:30. Service was good. Brought some wine from a winery we visited and they were very accommodating considering they had a nice wine list as well. Didn't even charge corkage fee. Paella was phenomenal. So was dessert

In the heart of Amarante, side by side with Tâmega River, Pobre Tolo provides to your customers a very comfortable and inviting space where they can enjoy peacefully a meal prepared with greater refinement and excellence. Giving always preference to taste
The restaurant is probably second best in town only to the Michelin star place down the street at the hotel. The cuisine is traditional Portuguese with a modern twist. The service is professional and extremely friendly and knowledgeable. The restaurant itself is very eye pleasing with two floors.. The location itself is perfect, very centralized walking distance from the hotel and the historic district with a great walk along the river. Parking right in front with plenty of shops nearby.Muito obrigada pela sua avaliação, ficamos satisfeitos em saber que cumprimos o nosso dever de o bem servir.

Two main Tasaing Menu options, at â¬110 and â¬125 each. This is much more than when we were here last, a few years ago, but we decided to go for it. Fantastic food, brilliantly put together. The lovely ambience was somewhat spolit by the fact that the owner had decided to host his birthday in the same room, along with 3 sons/daughters and partners - and several quite boisterous toddlers. I don't blame the tooddlers, they were quite well behaved, but I do blame the boss for feeling that it is OK to inflict his young grandchildren on diners knocking up a bill of â¬300 a couple. Perhaps he feels that it's his place, he can do what he wants? If so, I don't agree. He apparently did the same the following evening, but thankfully we were in the other restaurant. I did think about knocking down my rating due to all this but really that wouldn't be fair on the superb chef and waiting staff, or the brilliant food.Dear Client,Thank you very much for your visit and most appreciated comments.I´m very glad to know that you´ve considered Largo do Paço food options to be fantastic, we are really very fortunate to work with such a dedicated team members that will always run an extra mille just to provide you the best experience.Concerning your remarks they will be adressed internally, please acept our most sincere apologies for any experienced inconvinience.Looking Forward to welcome you again,With Kind Regards,Ãlvaro AragãoGeneral Manager

Located in a former distillery and inserted into the surrounding space of the Quinta da Pena, in Vila Caiz - Amarante, the "Pena - Restaurant & Bar" results from the rehabilitation of a historic space with a contemporary language. In a familiar environmen
They didn't have our reservation even when we showed the host her boss's confirmation of our booking, nevertheless, she was able to seat us for lunch. The restaurant is a little hard to find. It's in the family's compound beautified with a variety of beautiful fragrance roses. In nice weather, you should book for outdoor seating. A quaint, modern, and elegant design. We had foie, carpaccio, duck breast, scallops, and Pavlova. Don't deny the home-made bread, olive oil, and mozzarella presented as couverture because it was simple but wonderful. The duck was tender and cooked medium-rare served with cheese puff pastryâdivine. Everything was delicious, nicely presented and not overly done, neither rustic nor high-end.

Nice restaurant and pleasant staff, very friendly. Traditional starters are nice and the main course was good. We had fresh fish and steak. Nothing special, just good.We are living in Portugal for over 10 years now and when we ask for a maduro wine in a restaurant, average price is very reasonable, at average around 7-10â¬. for a good wine. We asked for a bottle of rosé, On the bill they charged us the price of 25⬠for an average wine. As mentioned, we live here for over 10 year and go out for lunch 4 a 5 times a week and never ever paid 25⬠in a local restaurant.Boa noite obrigado pela visita assim como o comentário será sempre um prazer servir vossas excelências Com os melhores cumprimentos VÃtor Carvalho
