New German and international cuisine in an historical ambiente. Great choice of wine, draught beers. Lunch stop for groups on request.
We had dinner; wiener schnitzel veal for me and instead of fries I had a beautiful large salad. My husband had the special tender beef cheaks with rosemary potatoes. He could not believe how tender the beef was, using only his fork! Wonderful service, wine, beer and meal. Highly recommend!

Food and service is good and well worth a visit. The food is essentially Germanic but with imagination. You can escape the schnitzel here as they have other things on the menu. The food is good quality with seasonal specialties like spargel (asparagus), pfifferlinge (chanterelle), goose etc. The wine is good quality and of exceptionable value. The owner has his own vineyards The cost of meal and wine is so reasonable. If you are looking to visit this part of the Moselle you can stay in their hotel and enjoy a good restaurant. I've eaten here a few times and it has always been good. .

We struggled a few times to get a seat at this popular restaurant, but finally slotted in on Tuesday night, though we shared a table German style with a Scottish couple. We both had the pumpkin soup, and then she had Spare ribs and I had Cordon Blue. Good and service excellent.Wir können uns gut an sie erinnern - vielen Dank für Ihren Besuch!! Bitte kommen Sie bald erneut zu uns!

Before heading back to the states we decided to go to this hidden gem weâve heard so much about from relatives. Long story short - food was spectacular, everything from the salad to the veal ragu to the off-menu schnitzel the charismatic owner prepared for us. Ambience was terrific, old vintage wood in a timeless mill, friendly restaurant patrons, cozy setting, and a very accommodating wait staff. Highly recommend to anyone traveling near the Boppard/Koblenz area. If the owner is reading this....please open a restaurant in Boston!

Literally stumbled on this restaurant as we took a wrong turn, looking for Castle Eltz. It was a Sunday and everything else was closed. Initially thought it was a simple cafe but fortunately, it wasn't. Food: The food, is hearty modern German cuisine. VERY generous portions and cooked to perfection. I had the Hunter's Schnitzel with field mushrooms and grilled cheese ... it was SUPERB!! They are very proud of their local produce, especially the potatoes, and feature them prominently on their menu. Potatoes are in their soup, main courses and side dishes. Everything on my plate was well seasoned.Atmosphere: Casual dining. The place was busy but not overly crowded or noisy. Nice modern furnishings, the place was well lit by big windows, and everyone was relaxed and chatty. In the warmer months, outdoor seating becomes available in the garden. Venue : I don't know if this place is easy to find without a GPS but the town is so small I am sure once you hit Munstermaifled, you can't miss it. The restaurant is in an old historic house, formerly used as a marionette theatre. They have kept the main features of the building and the facade; the cellar has been converted to a private dining space for parties and occasions. Service: The staff are all fairly young but service was friendly, smart and very prompt. They all speak English and will happily provide you with an English menu and help make recommendations if you are stumped. Value for $$ : For the meal we had,the portions they came in,and the service we got I would say this place is WELL WORTH it. Food was excellent. Will I go back? YES. Would I recommend this place to others. Definitely.

Must say the steaks I had (two) where nothing special really, and they could do with spending some euros rather than bringing a cooked steak out on a cold cheap chopping board.Too many chips as they take away the thickness of the steak.More salad less chips.

The restaurant is placed in an historic castle mill from the 11th century. "Alte Mühle" Thomas Höreth is located in a sunny side valley of the Moselle. Steep terraced vineyards reach close to the mill. Pilgrims used to eat here in ancient times when they
The âAlte Mühleâ for sure is always worth a visit! Great wine, good food and even better service! If you ever come anywhere around Kobern-Gondorf, this ist the place to be! The location is one of a kind and the atmosphere for sure something you wonât experience every day. Dear Jacqueline L, thank you so much for your lovely review and the kind words. We were on a coach trip to Germany for the Christmas Markets and one of the excursions was to Alken Mosel. This trip was mainly for a wine tasting visit, we don't drink much wine so we didn't participate, instead we had a walk around the town. It was quite a chilly day so we popped in for a coffee and cake at the Burg Cafe, a MUCH BETTER choice than the wine tasting. As with ALL German "Backerei" (Bakers) their choice and quality of cakes is second to none, as was their selection of chocolates (of which we purchased LOADS !!!)This is a very large restaurant because I think it forms part of the dining facilities for the ajoining hotel. We were greeted by a very helpful fellow, who escorted us to our table where we decided on and was served our refreshments, these being excellent. There is a road running along side the Mosel and the Burg Cafe is on the other side of the road, so in the summer you could sit outside and view the river very easily. If you visit Alken, this is a must visit !!

This is our favorite hotel out of dozens we have visited in Europe in recent years. Philip and Corinna Zimmerman are the perfect hosts. They are young, enthusiastic, friendly, welcoming and offer perfect service. The restaurant is lovely with three types of seating areas - riverside terrace, old Germanic style or conservatory. The decor is lovely with tasteful displays of articles table decorations. The menu is varied, reflects local specialities and the quality of food is excellent. Service is efficient and friendly. The extensive wine list includes local varieties and of quality. Food prices are very reasonable and good value for money. This is an 'apartment hotel' which allows self catering or accommodation linked to the restaurant. There is no breakfast but nearby cafe provides at reasonable cost or one can obtain fresh bread and foods at shop and bakery 150 metres away. There are several apartments of various sizes and facilities. They have separate bedrooms, kitchen areas, lounges and bathrooms. All have a terrace or balcony with views of the River Mosel and the vineyards. The rooms are very clean, tastefully decorated with lovely, classy touches and very comfortable. Prices are very fair for the quality of accommodation. Good private parking and good wifi.

Sat down here at 8pm on a Saturday evening. It was quite busy. It was difficult to get attention, you had to chase a waitress rather than them coming to you.Ordered drinks, starter and main course. Drinks came fairly quickly. Starter arrived at 8.30pm. Then we sat until 9.30pm with no food. We were sat next to a group of 4. The 1st diner had finished his meal before the 4th diner had got their food. At 9.30 I asked where the food was and I was told 'We only have a small kitchen'. I don't class myself as a business genius but the obvious answer is have less tables. Waitresses seem to be coming out with just one plate at a time.At 9.40 after waiting 1 hour 10 minutes for my meal, I paid for my drinks and left.Wild horses wouldn't drag me back there.
