What a luck that we found this special restaurant. Fresh and authentic regional food was what we got and an extremely friendly service. We ate until food coma and i assume there is no other way to eat in this restaurant. Do not expect any luxury though. The menu is being told except handing out cards- there is only one red or white wine and water, no other drink options. But the food is heaven- truffels are extremly fresh.

Dear Raffaele. We thank you for the hospitality. We enjoyed the meal. Pizza antipasti and tortellini were excellent. The atmosphere is in perfect Italian style.

A pleasure having an early dinner at Vecchia Lama! The classic restaurant for familyâs lunch at Sunday in the best italian tradition. Local sourced produces and a amazing hand of the chef make this an unmissable stop in the area. Try agnolotti for a super classic. They are made by hand one by one...and they are amazingly tiny!

Very rude staff!! We had a terrible experience. We ordered One pizza and 3 drinks. The waiter in front of all the other people in the restaurant told us it was unexceptable to order only One pizza. Before that we gave him our order, and he did not say anything. When the food arrived he brought 2 pizzas, and we said we only ordered one. The waiter then told us we ordered 2, and then he made the scene. We were on our way to do a walk and talk tour, and only had a few minutes before the tour started. We will never visit this restaurant again.

It is a place where my wife and i love to go whenever we are in the area and it is good for couples as well as for groups of friends.Their specialty is food based on mushrooms and truffles; they do offer white and black truffles (more easily found in this area) but with the black the can offer an outstanding ratio quality/price. In fact you can have a full "italian style" truffle-based dinner for 35 eur per person, wine included.Of course that is if you follow their suggestions that i keep finding perfect but if the budget is a non-issue for you or if it is a special occasion, they have a very well stocked wine cellar that can make your wallet trumble. The owners have been restaurateurs for decades in this small town but a few years ago they restored this old and beautiful mountain house to the original beauty (exposed stones, vaults, wood, the whole nine yards ....) and they moved in it making this dining experience even more involving. They do make wine and champagne tastig experience quite often and if you leave your email address they will be happy to keep you postedPersonal suggestion : carpaccio with truffles

The mezza luna pasta is absolutely the best I have tried in all the Italian restaurants I have eaten around the world. It is exquisitely delicate. The wine selection is excellent; Ask Jean Paul for his recommendations. He is an outstanding host!

The restaurant is in the lovely hills above modena and during summer weekends you seriously need to book in advance. The place was really full! Despite that, the service was very quick and the food was amazing. On sundays, since it is so full, you have a fixed menu. Do you think it's a problem? we had: starters with fresh mushrooms and parmisan shaves salad, assorted crostini with all you can imagine on top. Three different "primi" including risotto with mushrooms, tortelloni ricotta and spinach, rosette with ham and cheese. Then "second" come.... the waiter will walk around with a giant tray covered with all sorts of meat, including fried chicken, roasted rabbit, roasted pork ribs, roasted pork....all served with roasted potates and friend zucchini, fried mushrooms, roasted mushrooms.... Then of course if you survive...dessert! They will bring a few different home made cakes and offer for some extra dessert also home made like crema catalana, panna cotta, tiramisu etc.. Everything comes with wine and water and at the end of the meal coffee and a selection of local liquers. Seriously: it is a MUST GO.

The ambience is nice (they even have a flat tv looping old black and white pics of the city and some local landmarks) and so was the service The "crostini misti" croûtons with mushrooms, speck, cherry tomatoes and fresh mozzarella cheese were very tastyHowever my fettuccine with local seasonal mushrooms did not cut it. The habdmade pasta was very good but the sauce was not very tasty.I also wanted to order roast beef with roasted potatoes first because both are two dishes usually underestimated while I think they can easily range from awful to great and for the roast beef while a good piece of meat is easy to find around here, the sauce in my opinion is what makes it or breaks itThe roasted potatoes were cut super small in size but very tasty while the roast beef was good meat but with no sauce at all, on a bed of lettuce (!!)I had apple crumble for dessert and that was very good
