The restaurant "A Mangiare" is a historical one, located in an art-nouveau-style building at the ancient gates of the town. The cuisine is inspired by tradition but does not fail to deliver more creative proposals, paying attention to the seasonality of p
A Mangiare was a pleasant short walk from where we were staying during our two nights in Reggio Emilia. We so enjoyed the whole experience of eating there on our first night, that we booked in for the second. The restaurant offers imaginative, exciting dishes & wonderful service. Among the memorable dishes enjoyed were cheese mousse with pear, potato ravioli with cod & an amazing ginger ice-cream with prunes. My husband rated the calamari as "excellent". A wonderful paella was enjoyed on night 2. We ate outside on the first night and inside on the second - both settings were lovely. "A Mangiare" was the best restaurant we experienced in our recent 8 day visit to Italy. Thanks Bluepepper for your very good opinion about us. We would be happy to see you again soon as possible. Thanks again.

This restaurant is a bit of a step back in time. Old fashioned home made traditional food from Reggio Emilia. There is a roast meat trolley that looked fantastic; decided on a Chianti Classico from the limited menu, but received a 2015 San Flecine Chianti Classico, which was opened upon arrival at the table; had I seen the bottle first, I would have upgraded the selection. I noticed all bottles were handled in this pre-opened manner. Went for their tortellini filled with ricotta & spinach, a second with pumpkin both were excellent. Then scaloppine a piacere, also excellent. Tiramisu for desert.

Bravi !

the place itself is OK looking. The menu itself looks fine.there are only a few issues:-food quality - well below the average of the area -overpriced (small pasta portions as well....)-the service - it gives you the wish to leave as fast as possible watching their faces when working / taking orders!I personally cannot care less if they do things in house - quality matters and there is a huge lack of quality ratio here!ItalianoIngleseITALIANOsono sconcertato dal suo giudizio! le nostre porzioni sono abbondanti. vorrei conoscere la sua esperienza in cucina per comprendere tutta la sicurezza che ha nel giudicare la nostra qualità . siamo persone empatiche, la nostra espressione facciale è proporzionale con la vostra antipatia.cordiali salutiINGLESEI am baffled by his judgment! our portions are abundant. I would like to know her kitchen experience to understand all the security she has in judging our quality. we are empathic people, our facial expression is proportional to your dislike.Yours sincerely

Do visit Reggio Emilia. Itâs a lovely historic town. And this restaurant is a great stop for lunch - a real Italian deli, with hams hanging along the counter. Great selection of prosciutto, cheeses, etc. Inexpensive local wines. Enjoy !

Reggio never disappoints ... definitely in the kitchen. Restaurant recommended by friends. Menu on a chalkboard rich in local dishes ... interpreted. Starters with Gnocco Fritto at the top. Although I am enticed by Cappellacci and Tortelli I try the fate on a main courses of spelled with leeks, pumpkin and balsamic vinegar ... I have a delicious surprise ... exquisite. Sweet cake and even a simple Mascorpone with chocolate flakes ... it is highly recommended. So .. so ... I'll surely come go back

We are a small family-run establishment located in the historical center between Piazza S.Prospero and piazza Prampolini (under Broletto) based on the pig and its colors. Our specialties are mainly sandwiches with original pork with fine tastes and specia
They are the artists of making wonderful stuff using pork, other excellent ingredients and lots of love for their job. Their own Lambrusco is a perfect match for the sandwiches made with yellow bread (from the curcuma added to fight the cholesterol coming with the pork), bio-pork and other several things. The location is great, on the street linking two of the most squares of Reggio Emilia. The staff are very friendly and very dedicated to their products and their work. A sublime food experience, indeed.

I have no idea how this restaurant has such a high rating. The food ranged between poor and unexceptional and the dining room is a soulless white box upstairs in a commercial building. On a positive note, the staff were friendly. Do yourself a favour and go somewhere else. There are so many places in the area where you'll have better food and a nicer atmosphere.
