Reviews on Eastern European food in Krakow, Lesser Poland Province, Poland. Krakow is one of the most culturally and politically significant cities in Poland. It was the central site of the Nazi General Government during WWII, and there’s still a residual feeling of solemnity here that’s especially apparent during visits to the Plaszow Concentration Camp and the Oskar Schindler Factory. Both the Historic City Centre and the Jewish District are brimming with cafés, shops, and pubs, and the 10-acre Main Market Square is a medieval feast for the senses.

Wierzynek Restaurant is a very unique venue on the map of Poland, where 650-year-old tradition of feasting and modern approach to the culinary arts meet! The tradition of the restaurant dates back to 1364, when a wealthy merchant Mikolaj Wierzynek hosted
The conference I attended in Krakow reserved the upper floor of Wierzynek restaurant for dinner. The food that was served was elegant and delicious, including the beetroot with goat cheese appetizer and the pork tenderloin entree. The servers were well-trained and professional. They easily handled our large group of diners. However, the service itself was very slow since it took more than an hour for the entrees to be served. Not sure why there was a significant delay between each the meals, but the quality of the dishes was very high.Itâs still a great restaurant, especially for couples and a relatively small group of friends, celebrating a special occasion. Dear Alex, thank you for your review and sharing your opinion. We are really glad that you have enjoyed the food and ambiance of our restaurant. It is very disappointing to hear about your feelings regarding the service. Let me assure you that we did everything in our power to serve you as soon as possible. In case of your particular group we were forced to wait for everyone to gather, what caused the delay.Hope to see you again in Wierzynek!Sincerely,Restaurant Manager

Polish modern kitchen and great local beer
We came for dinner on our 2nd evening in Krakow and the reviews which led us here did not disappoint. Pierogi and borscht with dumplings for starters were followed, by the best main course of the weekend roasted pork knuckle and Pork ribs, both were excellent .Great service and a lovely atmosphere in the area of Kazimierz. We will definitely return on our next visit for more of the same.We Highly recommend a visit to Szynk.

Tastes to share and moments to remember! Polish cuisine, modern interiors, everything homemade. Miodova - this is a new way of thinking about polish, traditional cuisine in connection with continental style.
Miodova Restaurant is situated in the heart of Kazimierz (the Jewish Quarter), very close to the Old Synagogue and the Remu Synagogue. It is a very modern restaurant, serving a fusion of contemporary polish and international cuisine, so one might expect to try mainly traditional polish dishes with a twist. We visited on a Thursday night without having a reservation, as it was our first night in Poland, but we were seated in a lovely table with a view of the open kitchen. The interior is modern, although I would expect the lighting to be better suited for dinner time, as the place clearly lacked ambience. The menu card had a lot of options to choose from. As it was our first try of the polish cuisine, we ordered the Ruskie Pierogi (traditional, with potato and cheese), a traditional soup with dumplings and broth and the pan-fried marinated duck breast. Everything was well prepared, but definitely not something to remember.Service was indiffent and definitely not attentive, although they were polite. Prices were reasonable and the food had overall good value for money (we paid 166 zl, around 38,50 Euros, for the above dishes plus 2 glasses of red wine), although it is pricey by polish standards. However, drinks (especially wine) were very expensive, and I didn't like the fact that they charged us 15 zl (around 3,5 euros) for a 1 Lt jar of water that we didn't even order and it was not even bottled (probably tap water). Huge mistake for a restaurant that claims to be upscale. Our final impression was that we had a good dinner, but surely not something special or something to reminisce.

We had dinner here yesterday and were very pleased we did. The food was excellent, the portions were generous (especially the boneless pork "chop") and the prices were reasonable. Service was pleasant and efficient. We got a very nice complimentary liqueur too!The restaurant was very quiet so there was no atmosphere but some gentle jazz music helped a bit.Highly recommended - we may go back tomorrow.

NAKRYTO is Polish home-made cuisine relying on healthy and regional treasures of nature. We endorse simple cooking. The one we prepare for our dearest friends and family at home with lots of herbs, only organic spices and healthy Polish pickled vegetables
We had a meal here 25 October. It was a very enjoyable evening. Our waiter Catsper (incorrect spelling) was very helpful and always smiling. We had mixed perogi (shared) which were excellent. I had a vegetarian burger, which I enjoyed. I had a chocolate jelly dessert with coconut ice cream and a citrus/basil sauce (flavours really complimented each other). Thoroughly enjoyed the evening. We definitely would return.

We ate here on 24 October. My wife had Comfit of Duck which was perfectly cooked and I had Rack of Lamb, which was cooked the way I like it. The waiting staff were very attentive, but not too overbearing. We were even given a complimentary shot of cinnamon vodka. Fully recommend going here.

The restaurant that puts the regional products first. Specially selected recipes let enjoy a great number of specialities. Thanks to convenient location you will feel the atmosphere of Krakow. Here, tradition coincides with contemporary.
I cannot simply put into words how amazing the food was at this restaurant. When we first looked it up we were looking for just sensational food.. so when we turned up and realised it was a small place we had our hesitations however we noticed every single table inside had been reserved so we persevered! We both got dumplings to start with which we hoovered off before the bowl had even hit the table! Our mains were fish and my partner was beef.. the way the dishes were executed were just beautiful! The only problem I had with my meal and I think this is just me.. I had to fish out a lot of big bones from my fish. I really hate bones but with fish you can never 100% guarantee. Other than that, simply amazing Thank you very much! We are very happy that you liked it :)
