Quite an extensive menu. Service was friendly. And the latte macchiato we were served was truly a macchiato and not a 'koffie verkeerd' as so often is the case when ordering a macchiato in Holland. The lunch was tasty, though the nachos snack was a bit weak tasting, but I suppose they cater to the local taste buds? we would have preferred a bit more zing to it.Worth mentioning, though nothing to do with food : the restroom was one of the cleanest we have encountered in a restaurant or cafe. We dont usually mention toilets unless they are absolutely bad or very good, as was the case here. Would definitely recommend for lunch or snack.

We waited 30 to 45 minutes for 4 simple pancakes (nothing special). And on this Wednesday is wasnt very busy: just one table more with 8 people. Now i can understand that during the week you cant have a whole crowd of cooks in the kitchen... but 45 minutes?!We were with two little boys of 2 years old, but the serving lady (uninterested young girl) didnt tell us about the play area. It is in the front of the boat, hidden behind a curtain and a big plant. Very very small and not really fnu things to play... So afterall, my pancake wasnt well cooked, the others reasonable. The child pancake comes with candy that sticks to sweaters, trousers and the paper napkin. Not worth a second visit if you notice the speed of seeing the panckes come through... (Also slow for the table of 8)
This restaurant near the highway is a good place to eat for lunch or diner, or just drink a cup of coffee. During summer a nice terrace on the south. It is not a fashionable place, but a good restaurant where you can have diner in the restaurant part or in the less formal cafe part. The small cart, but enough choices, guarantee fresh food. We were with 9 persons, first having a drink in the cafe, choosing our dishes, when ready for serving we went to the nicely set table. The waiters were friendly, not to formally and did have enough knowledge about the products. The environment is quiet, no music on the background, and easy going.

The food in this restaurant is very good, but be "prepared" because it stresses more on quality than on quantity. Already when you look at the menu you'll find out it doesn't have a large number of choices, but still there's something for everyone's liking. And although there are familiar items on the menu, the presentation is always a surprise. So the Caesar salad wasn't a big bowl of salad, but a nice looking plate with all the ingredients in a diagonal line. Not really what I expected but surely something different for a change, and it tasted very good, although there was hardly any salad on the plate. The main course was a combination of 2 meats in a small sizzling pan. The taste was very good, but for a meatlover like myself the pieces of meat were a little too small, but I can understand it's big enough for most people. I could not find anything I really wanted for desert on the menu. So all in all, good food in original presentations, but not really enough interesting items on the menu to go there for several nights in a row.

The atmosphere of a pub, where you can go casual dressed or neatly dressed, you will have a warm welcome. You will get enough attention from the owner and waitress, but not to much, not overdone. The drinks are served quickly, some finger food is served, you can dive into the menu now. Great food, fresh and tasteful, meat, fish and vegetarian. We loved it!!Recommended to everyone who wants to enjoy a good dinner, with good wine in a relaxing and cozy atmosphere.

By Kees is the place you just don't expect at Heerenveen. It's light, it's fresh, it's young, it's cool, it's great, healthy and nutritious food, it's nice people and it's small. We visited the place on Monday for lunch and it was full, but the father of Kees (the woman owner of the place, who studied architecture :-), but decided to run her own lunch and coffee room), helped out and brought a table from outside, so we could sit. The coffee is among the best in Holland. The only problem might be this: what the .... does anyone go to Heerenveen for? Well, could be Thialf or the local football club, but I am not sure if people who visit those venues are the ones that would appreciate By Kees. Might be a culture gap. It's the young hipster vibe that makes these places so good. I was there because I had a meeting in a village nearby (By the way, I am sixty, but I grew up with The Rolling Stones. Forever young, so to speak :). But I tell you, should you plan a visit to the cities of Groningen or Leeuwarden in the north of Holland and should you be able to combine that with a short stay at Heerenveen, stop there for coffee or lunch.

Especially for the spare ribs, we choose this restaurant. And it was bull's eye! Super yummy marinaded, right off the bone ribs. I got three reasonable racks, comes with chips (in Dutch: frieten) and a small bowl of vegetables. Personally I didn't like the yoghurt-garlic sauce but appearantly you can order it with different sauce. Merlot wine was tasty aswel.

The best homemade burgers, fries and milkshakes. We daily grind our meat fresh for the hamburgers. No additives only salt and pepper before hitting the griddle.
The name says it all "fresh" that's exactly right. The burger and fries are freshly made and you will taste it for sure! I ordered the bacon burger, the bacon was delicious. And the burger was perfectly cooked. The fries were crispy. The service was really nice. It's a nice place for everybody.

't Gerecht is a grand café and boutique hotel in the Centre of Heerenveen. The establishment is located in a monumental building that formerly has served as town hall and tax office. Where in the past the tax bills and still rather judicial decisions were
I ate here both nights while staying here, and ate breakfast here as well. The restaurant atmosphere is comfortable and easy-going. The menu has a fairly wide range of options. I found the portions here to be quite large, and entrees included a salad, fries, and stewed rhubarb as well. This made for quite the feast, so much so that I was too full to order dessert. Everything I tried was well-prepared and delicious.Service was a bit on the slow side, but I expect that given how busy they were. On the plus side I never felt rushed.
