It is located north of the Van Harinxmakanaal and about 20 km west of Leeuwarden. As of 1 January 2014, it had 12,781 inhabitants. My date took me out to this âupper classâ restaurant. We sat out in the conservatory, which looks absolutely gorgeous. Very modern and sleek.The restaurant offers good service and high quality food. The dishes are real eye-catchers: every course looked beautiful. The only thing was: I didnât enjoy the food so much. I felt like they were trying too hard. Putting so many flavours into such a tiny dish (I mean seriously, it was just one or two bites in a dish) is just too much!There was hardly any balance between the foods and flavours and I felt that they let these beautiful products go to waste by adding so much stuff. Personally I just like a good plate of real food. Nothing too fancy, just good flavours and enough food on my plate. So this restaurant and itâs eye-catching dishes are just not my cup of tea. But if youâre really into kickshaw and you have plenty of cash (itâs an expensive restaurant - fortunately my date was really nice ;)), this could be the place for you.

We had lunch here when we came of the ferry from Terschelling. The restaurant is nicely decorated and has a good atmosphere. Nice laid back music, friendly staff and many teas. We had a starter platter to share and the soup of the day. All very tasty and fresh. The coffee afterwards was als very good.Highly recommended for lunch in Harlingen.

Heerlijk bij El Pastel gezeten vanmiddag. Een beetje verstopt achter de kerk, maar dan heb je ook wat. Hele dag zon op het gezellige terrasje, met mooie wijntjes, zorgvuldig uitgezochte biertjes en, heel belangrijk, goeie koffie. Ook de wisselende hapjes waren heerlijk, wij hadden nu Spaanse gehaktballetjes. We komen zeker terug voor al het andere lekkers!

Al weer een paar weken open, en erg genoten van dit restaurant. Ben nooit zo van lopend buffet, maar als je iets vroeger bent dan 18:00 is alles nog mooi en ziet het er fantastisch opgemaakt uit. Ook in de Valk prima eten en voldoende personeel om overal mee te helpen. Van poffertjes tot Susi alles is er wel te vinden en te proefen. Wij hebben lekker gegeten, het smaakt naar meer. Prijs voor bier begint van af een muntje, dit systeem had om mij niet gehoeven.

In Franeken, Netherlands we had dinner in restaurant Grillerij and we got local delicacies. However the waitress pouren a glass of beer into my jacket pocket By mistake. My phone was ruined and of course the jacket. ... but no compensation - except that I did not have to pay for that beer in my pocket.

Now part of the planetarium, one can sit on the terrace or in the nicely renovated and decorated old coffeehouse. A great place for lunch of a filled pancake. The servings are large, and one pancake will fill you up. Service is friendly and there is wifi.

My wife has a fish and chips. The fish was cod and it will likely breaded and she enjoyed it thoroughly. I had the pork on a skewer with peanut sauce. Never had peanut sauce before but this was very enjoyable. Service was very good.

Having dined here on several occasions, we can still be surprised by new menus, new tastes and combinations and an excellent choice of wines. Even a Norwegian friend we took here last year, was impressed with the fish, (which really means something).Service is always very pleasant and personal. It is the one place where we can literally enjoy a meal that lasts a whole evening because of the combination of the food and the atmosphere..
