Stopped in on our way out of Gouda after a short day trip. We wanted a coffee and sweet treat. Apparently there are a few of these shops throughout Holland. We had a pleasant time and our coffee and food were tasty. We enjoyed our latte's and cappuccino as well as some banana bread. It was gluten/sugar free but very very tasty. There seem to be a lot of healthy items on the menu so I am eager to visit again for a full meal. I would definitely try out this place a few more times. Stop in and give them a try....at least grab a coffee and a piece of the yummy banana bread. The cranberries give it just the right amount of sweetness.

This is not sensu stricto a restaurant. It is a place where after reservation you can get cooking lessons and eat what you have cooked, but I think it can fall under the restaurant category since during and after cooking your meal you are treated as a restaurant guest with full service and drinks, snacks and amuses served by professional waiters. There is not any cleaning up to do so it is all pure luxury and even if you can't cook at all they will help you through. However, you have to reserve in advance to enter the cooking class. We had great fun there: the instructors are marvelous, you not only learn new things (even if you are very experienced already in cooking), but also see how a professional kitchen deals with hygiene and you will probably learn some new handy tricks. They offer several choices of menu's. We had the Dutch menu with the local ingredients from the region and this was great. The ingredients were really superb, e.g. the local goose, fish and meat; not to forget the local honey and apples for the desert. There is also a wine tasting after the cooking where you can choose the best wine for each of the courses. The place is in the historical Bodegraven station (hence the name kookstation) and the restaurant part is really cute (if you don't mind now and then seeing a train stop in front of your window). There is really no better place to reach by train than this place since the back door exit is right at the train entrance for the direction Leiden (step to the other side if you need to go direction Amsterdam). It is anyway recommended to go by train since you will be tempted for so much alcoholics to drink that driving a car would be not a good idea.

At the Grand Café we discovered an utterly fantastic vintage-dated beer from Wild yeast, the Striffe Hendrick. Must be rare and small production as our attempts to later locate it at retail in Amsterdam failed. But at least we had it, thanks to the great beer selection here and the recommendation of the friendly guys at the table next to us. Great people-watching from outdoor tables!

THE place to be De munt food ⢠drinks! Good coffee, homemade pastry, best lunches, nice drinks, good food and the best gin tonics and cocktails! Good quality, meat, fish, vegetarian, vegan. De Munt has it all! De Munt is situated in an old bank building.
This is a very nice restaurant in many respects. The interior is very nice and excellent service. I think the chef also really knows how to cook as shown by the good taste of several of the dishes, with special compliments for the French fries. However, some serious problems need to be fixed. An almost complete lack of healthy vegetables is nowadays hardly acceptable anymore. Furthermore, all dishes were far too high on calories, e.g. the pumpkin soup, and especially the dessert was completely over the top with too much cookies and other stuffing ingredients. So if they adapt to modern times and give much more attention to healthy ingredients, that by the way most often can also taste great, this restaurant has a great future.

What surprised me most was that there are options outside at the tables to charge your devices. What a super service on a terrace. Never experienced that anywhere in the world .! Really super . Service of the staff fast and friendly. Nice place to visit

I will give my opinion on this restaurant on relative scale for Bodegraven, since there are very few good restaurants in the vicinity. Positive points are that the food is fresh and good ingedients, but very old style Dutch cuisine, you can imagine it being similar to the food served in this location 100 years ago (there has been a restaurant in this place since 1898 see their web site), except that the chicken now is replaced by guinea fowl and they didn't have scampi's in that time. It is located at the old lock so a historical place and convenient to eat there if you are passing by boat, unfortunately there is an ugly white building on the corner that needs some painting that spoils the view. The food is a bit heavy with much butter but otherwise tasty and it is not at all expensive. A big negative is the fact that they don't have a wine list so if you don't like the house wine you have to switch to beer as the only alternative. Very attentive staff compensates for the negative points.

We visited family in Bodegraven and went for dinner here. As we were with 8 people, we weren't sitting on a long table, but in a square, so we could interact easily with everyone. The menu is made of local products, with a good variaty of meat, fish and veg. Interesting beers from a small Dutch local brewery Gulpener (try the white beer with a slice of lemon!). Every dish was made with lots of natural flavours and served on a high standard. The restaurant is run by father, mother and son, who know what they are doing. Just be aware, if you want a quick 3 course meal, this isn't the place. This restaurant doesn't do resits, all the food goes slowly out of the ktichen, but with perfection and taste. We went on a Saturday evening and place was full, so we would recommend you to book. Oh, and even with the coffee you get some sweets and mints. Thx for the Haagse Hopjes, we love them here in Switzerland!

A very good restaurant in Bodegraven. I particularly liked the lambs neck, that I never had before. Very good that they use the Green Egg in a creative way, the smoked duck was very good. A minor criticism is that they used egg yolk sauce for an appetizer and middle dish, although that was indicated I only realized later it was a bit too much of the same. Anyway I thought the egg yolk sauce was not a good fit with the smoked duck, it fitted well with the steak tartare. They also serve very nice whines, especially the desert whine Rivesaltes Ambre was excellent.

Brouwcafé de Molen is the brewpub, restaurant and bottle shop of the well known Brouwerij de Molen. In the historic mill along the river Oude Rijn you can enjoy a good meal together with a good beer from one of the 20 taps. After that, please visit the we
Awww, I really enjoyed being here. We visited with friends on a very busy Saturday night and although it was crowded, the table service was still very good. There are loads of craft beers to try and they are written with a description on boards above the bar. We ate here too and the portions were absolutely enormous. I had to leave half of mine as I just couldn't finish it. We all enjoyed what we had. There's plenty of parking nearby. Hopefully I'll visit again as I believe you can have a tour of the windmill during the day.

We went on a Saturday evening making a booking at very short notice. Booking is needed on many nights. We failed to get in on our previous 2 attempts. The staff are very welcoming. We arrived a little early for our table and were seated at the bar with a drink on the house while we waited for our table to clear. The food was excellent with one of the best burgers I have had anywhere. The entrecote was also beautifully cooked. The grand dessert which we shared was magnificent with seven different mini desserts.Excellent review. Very happy with.Thank you.
