My wife and niece recently visited this restaurant for an evening dinner. We found our host Gerrard Kampkuiper and his family all to be extremely accommodating and very friendly. The meals were all of a very high standard with the peppercorn steak one of the best I have found anywhere! The highlight of the menu were the Kampkuiper 'Balls' dessert with melting chocolate and ice cream!Everything in this restaurant is done very professionally and hygiene is tops. One of the very best!John Brbich N.Z.Dear Staysurfside,Thanks for the outstanding review. We hope to welcome you soon again!Gr. Team Kampkuiper

I took a ham-cheese tosti here for lunch, and it was good. I think it cost me 2.75 euros, which is very reasonable, considering the location in the old town hall, in the center of Almelo.

If you don't want to eat all inclusive, you can make a reservation yo this restaurant. Is a quiet atmosphere, and the food is good and fresh. The prices are not so high. The waiters are very young, that's why the service wasn't at a level 4-5 stars, but it wasn't disliked.

Nice setting and location, pretty good food, but the overall experience is a bit let down by the service. Half of our order for starters was forgotten. The replacement starter was luke-warm. When we asked for a second glass of the red wine we were having, the last tiny bit of the bottle contents were emptied into the glass. Instead of bringing a new bottle and a new glass, the glass was taken back to the kitchen area and brought back filled. What happened to first tasting whether the new bottle was ok? Where was the cork? Was the glass indeed emptied first as claimed by the serving staff? The experience could have been much better.

Great for celiacs needing gluten-free. There were allergy symbols on the Dutch menu. Happy to adapt dishes where possible. Well informed about cross-contamination with, for example, frites. Delicious food. Delightful terrace on a quiet square. Friendly welcome.

My friend treated me to a meal here. I had Irish stew. It was lovely, but only a very small portion was served. My friend ordered Shepherd's Pie but she wasn't convinced that it really was Shepherd's Pie with minced lamb. She thought it tasted more like Cottage Pie with minced beef. The atmosphere was lovely here and no one tried to rush us with our meals. So I will return one day.

The quality of food is good and the service nice and warm as well. However it seems that the food took quite a while as my steak took more than half an hour to arrive after order.
