We worked up quite a thirst hiking to see the castle ruins in Durnstein. After getting back into town, we were very happy to find the Cafe Durnstein and very much enjoyed their Eiskaffee. Enjoy!

We came late and tired just for quick dinner. Sitting in a large patio ot the building, we had local food, for me a blackpudding woth boiled potatoes, well seasoned and mixed together (unusual, but quite good), good sauerkraut (cold) with smoked meat and speck. My wife had chicken in a light (not with double cream) paprika sauce and some local pasta. Some local beer, OK for tired tourists, very few guests. Several people were playing bingo in adjointed large room, some light and noises were hearable, but not much. Service was not much interested, delivered what we asked for.

We had the incredible honor of having our wedding reception at Nikolaihof. The whole planning process went super smooth thanks to the highly experienced staff in the back office. Everything was super transparent and we got friendly answers to our 1000 questions. The evening itself was absolutely magic. We were greeted in the lovely courtyard by the senior owner, Frau Saahs. She gave us a tour through the wine cellar and showed our guests the press. The whole winery is just so exceptional and stands out among the hundreds others in Austria. The food exceeded our expectations. I never had a better meal in my life and I don't say that just because it was my wedding day ;) They employ highly experienced staff, that create exceptional dishes, which satisfy meat eaters and vegetarians alike. We had one person with allergies and she was so well taken care of by the staff. All of them were so amazing. I liked the risotto the best but seriously, every dish was just so good. The wines are some of the best in the world and the whole ethics behind the winery is just mindblowing. The family-run business deserves all the praise, they are a bunch of very hard working people and the efforts totally show off as we had a simply fantastic evening with our friends and family. Various amazing dumplings with awesome sauces, good wine and really nice, friendly, funny service team. We had vegetarian dumplings (quinoa with curry vegetables and spinach-potato dumpling with nut crumbs and tomato sauce) - awesome.
