It is the county seat of Payne County, Oklahoma, United States. As of 2012, the city population was estimated to be 46,560, making it the tenth largest city in Oklahoma. Stillwater is the principal city of the Stillwater Micropolitan Statistical Area which had a population of 78,399 according to the 2012 census estimate. Stillwater was part of the first Oklahoma Land Run held on April 22, 1889 when the Unassigned Lands were opened for settlement and became the core of the new Oklahoma Territory. The city charter was adopted on August 24, 1889. Stillwater is home to the main campus of Oklahoma State University as well as Northern Oklahoma College - Stillwater, Meridian Technology Center, and the Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education.

Although the staff was friendly and attentive, Granny's is not for me. Perhaps most significant: They don't serve butter (and that must mean they don't cook/bake with it either). I will never understand a restaurant using/serving margarine or any other awful substitute. Additional issues today: The vaunted cinnamon roll was stale (and no butter to attempt any improvement). The requested "crisp" bacon in my otherwise tasty California omelet was undercooked, as was my husband's side of "crispy" bacon. The hash browns were barely browned on top. Finally, the Moscato, generally an okay wine choice anywhere, was not good enough to drink beyond a couple swallows.

This is the ultimate diner-- fifties feel, fried pickles, and friendly people. What more could you ask for? I love the food here- comfort food that makes you want to come back for more. The only downside would be if you're a total heath nut, in which you might have some difficulty finding a great option.

For many of us, looking for a place to have breakfast, that is open 24 hours, is often difficult. The Shortcake Diner, in Stillwater Oklahoma, is a great 24 hour diner. They have an excellent kids menu, as well as serving breakfast all day, and they have great burgers and sandwiches. The countertop bar is filled with locals who regularly come every day. You can always get a good conversation with somebody from the area. It also has a well lit parking lot.The waitstaff is top notch.

We are not huge hot dog fans, but we were starving and wanted a quick fix. My husband is an OSU grad and still raves about Coney Island. I am allergic to gluten and asked for a hotdog without a bun, but the staff informed us that the hotdogs have gluten so I wasn't able to eat (nothing on the menu GF). My son (not a hot dog lover) loved his hotdog! My husband of course loved his as well. I am giving this 5 stars only bc they raved about how good their hot dogs were. I left still starving but sometimes that's how it goes....
