Lynn and I and friends recently had lunch in historic Truckee after driving up to Donner Pass. This is an attractive old diner and gives one the feeling that they are enjoying a meal in an earlier era. I had a cup of their excellent chili ($4.99...I would order a bowl next time.). So good. I also had Jax 1/2 Asian salad ($8.99). It was delicious. Lynn had a Reuben in Marbled Rye. I tried it. Delicious. Desiree, our server was great. She also was knowledgeable about the Truckee area which we appreciated. A very nice place in old Truckee.

We were curious to check out the historic district of Truckee and came across this very casual and reasonably priced restaurant. Our waitress must have sensed that we were very hungry because she not only took our orders but pointed out a near by table with about 10 people who she had seated before us and said she needed to get our requests to the kitchen first, to insure that we would be served first! Sure enough, our waitress took our orders for our salads and within minutes our delicious meals arrived and only then did I see the waitress taking the orders of the larger group. The prices of their menu and the quality of the food was great!

Wow, this place knows how to do breakfast. We ate their pre-Spartan Beast race and were able to get healthy options (oatmeal, whole wheat, etc.). In addition, they have great fresh baked cinnamon roles, eggs/bacon, etc. Also, have a nice lunch menu and great indoor seating area. Service is great!
