It is the easternmost of the so-called Kaiserbäder ("Imperial Spas") seaside resorts on the German part of the island, situated right next to the border with Poland and the town of Świnoujście (Swinemünde). Both communities are freely connected by the longest beach promenade in Europe spanning more than 12 km (7 mi) from Bansin to Świnoujście.

Really disappointed with the experience of eating at Wirtshaus Leo. After eating the mediocre tasteless drab food on offer, we found that the creditcard machine wasn't working (it seemed that the staff had been aware of this before we'd ordered anything). No apology for any inconvenience or anything... instead the staff became confrontational insisting that we left ID... went to the nearest cashpoint (and incurred a â¬5 withdrawal fee). The ID thing was particularly ironic since the "manager" who demanded this seemed amazingly reluctant to give us his name (after 30 or so seconds, he grunted out Müller somewhat unconvincingly). Pretty quickly his solution to this technical problem was threatening us with the police.I guess there must be better food in the area... both my dish and my partner's had no real taste. I'm fairly sure that there can't be worse service in any case. Don't give these people your custom or hard-earned money. They don't deserve it.

Im Gegensatz zum immer überfüllten Schwesterrestaurant 100 m weiter, kann man hier im Freien auf der Terrasse und nur da gute Fischgerichte essen, die man sich aber selber im Inneren der Hütte (nicht Halle) holen muss, was meistens ein Schlangestehen nach sich zieht. Dafür kann man dann beim Essen ungehindert auf die benachbarte Promenade gucken.

Das Restaurant liegt direkt neben dem Hotel Strandvillen Heringsdorf und hat uns sofort in den Bann gezogen, deshalb haben wir gleich am ersten Tag hier gegessen, entweder reservieren, zeitig kommen oder aber auf der überdachten Terrasse sitzen, freundliche Bedienung und leckeres Essen belohnen den Besuch

The place is impressive. We had the feeling to be back in the 19 th century. We had an amazing three course dinner which was outstanding. The first course was a delicious carpaccio of monkfish. The second course which was called 'Heaven and Earth' was a fois grase with apples slices and mash potatoes and tasted just terrific with the Pauillac Grand Cru Classé. As dessert we have chosen the creme brûlée and the tris of plums. The service was very friendly and attentive. We can absolutely recommend this place.
