We go to work in the car show every year and every year the wait staff dress in 50's attire. It just makes the visit so much nicer. The food is great, it's close to the faripark, friendly service and happy people. It has everything we want and need. See you next year!

I had a big breakfast - eggs, meat, hash browns. Polite and efficient service. Not too crowded a late morning weekday. Asked for 'crisp' hash browns and got them a little charred on the outside and a hot but not totally cooked inside. (Better than some places do them, but not perfect.)It is an 'open' diner - no privacy; no way to avoid overhearing the table next to me. But it was not offensive. And the food was very good. I'll probably try it the next time I need a fast good meal in the area. Probably OK for a business meal if you don't need any privacy.

IHOP of Santa Maria is better than a lot of other IHOPs I have eaten in. They're clean, popular, and try their best to accommodate everyone. Service can be a bit slow at times, but that's because they're full about 80 % of the time.

Black Bear Diner, founded in 1995, is a fast-growing, community-oriented, family dining concept that offers a one-of-a-kind experience in a fun, bear-themed atmosphere. Black Bear Diner was born from a desire to bring home-style comfort food classics and
Another in an ever-growing chain of American fare diners, I find Black Bears generally a bit blah but my local fiends in SM enjoy it & wanted to take me to dinner so I graciously accepting figuring something suitable would turn up. Between the three of us we had Chicken & Waffle; Pancakes & Eggs, and the Tri-Tip platter for myself, with salad, mac & cheese and mixed veggies sides. Tri-tip is a Santa Maria specialty and thereâs a high standard for it in town so itâs a measure by which one can judge attention to food prep & presentation. Starting with the chicken & waffle, it got an OK reception from my friend. The chicken part is a processed flat patty about 1/2â thick fried to a too-dark crisp. But with the waffle and chicken both dipped in syrup, he found it acceptable. Pancakes are pancakes, eggs are eggs. As good as any. The tri-tip was a major disappointment. While the menu said thick sliced they were not. Usually at a SM BBQ restaurant itâs a substantial hunk of meat - this was not. But the sin was the rub, which was FAR too salty with an unidentifiable spice which completely hid any hint of the meatâs unique smoky flavor. Too fatty also, each piece had a layer all the way around. The salad was blah as usual - standard greens, Caesar dressing with no character whatsover. Mac & cheese was not the least bit creamy, veggies were steamed to mush. While the waitress did her best to serve us well, the restauatant was badly understaffed & she had at least a dozen tabletops to attend to. So refills & whatnot came slowly. I never fault a server for that and she was hustling as quickly as possible so we left a 25% tip for maximum effort. Overall, yet another Black Bear Diner. Their most regular regular has his pic on the wall & visits everyday, sometimes 2X a day. Hope this gentleman chooses someday to expand his dining horizons...

We had a party of 11, 6 adults and 5 very hungry kids. It was a busy Sunday and we had a bit of a wait before meals arrived. Practically everyone ordered a form of breakfast. Extensive menu, normal diner style. Very reasonable. Well taken care of.
