Finishing up an afternoon hike with kuchen, bier, and kaffe. Perfection! Nice views from the deck. It rained a bit when we were there, but the deck is covered so it was delightful.

Visited here three years ago and recently returned. The food is still as good as I remembered, and it is nice to sit in a quiet, civilised atmosphere. While they have an English-language version of the menu, staff do not really speak English so you need at least a little German. However, they are welcoming and it is a good place for a traditional Bavarian meal.

We happened on this quite by chance while spending a week at Oberstdorf walking in the mountains. It was simply the best food we had all week. Excellent beef and the best carrot soup I've ever tasted. I would travel a long way to eat here again

as I have a holiday apartement just round the corner from Oberstdorf I am a quite frequent customer there.It is very cosy inside and it has a nice garden . The food is German and specially from around this area . You will love their trout fresh catch from their own stream. The restaurant went through generations always the same family . Service is very friendly .The house is build in the style of the area.

Ate here for dinner yesterday, the atmosphere was great. The restaurant and outside area was very clean. Staff were attentive and worked very quickly to a great service. Staff also spoke excellent English and were happy to help translate the menu. Food came out quickly and was excellent. Portion was big. Will be visiting again :)

Our party of 9 (4 adults, 5 children) ate at the Almenhof on Christmas night 2014. The food was very reasonably priced and all 9 meals were excellent, catering for those who wanted more traditional fare (eg. the trio of dumplings), local produce (eg. the steaks), as well as fish fingers and chips for one of the children. The live music from the accordion and guitar, with a bit of yodelling thrown in, really added to the atmosphere and was loud enough for us to hear over our chat, but wasn't at all intrusive. Menus were in English, which helped us non-German speakers, although the waitress had a bit of trouble translating the dishes back to German. Overall, it really made our Christmas Day.
